Med excursions are the most expensive. We did 3 as a couple and it cost £500 !!

'Essence of Rome' - a fantastic tour if you have never been to Rome before - 11 hrs (it takes 3 hrs to get there and back) which includes a 3course italian lunch with a glass of wine or beer. You are fast -tracked past all the long queues and see inside the Vatican (only tour that goes inside), St Peters, Bailica, Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain, inside the Colosseum (some tours only do outside) and the Roman Forum - £95pp (2006)

Pisa and Florence in a day£70pp

with a 3 course lunch - along day too but you get to see both places.

Monte Carlo - from Cannes £34pp on your own - just coach there and back.

Some ports you can do yourself with a free shuttle bus, like Barcelona.

Which ports have you got?

gibraltar, catagena, civitavecchia, livormo, monte carlo, barcelona, cadiz

Which one do you think would be ok to do on our own?

Gib - You can do on your own, walk off ship, walk into town, see the duty free shops and have a pint,...but if you want to see more, there is a trip that takes you up the rock by cable car, see the apes, see the caves, see the war tunnels - very interesting all in 1/2 a day...

Cadiz - ship docks by the town, walk off and you are there, or get on a HOHO (HOP ON HOP OFF) sight-seeing bus and see the sights, there is a beach, lovely gardens, shops, restaurants etc, plenty to see in a day.

Barcelona - free ship shuttle coach to La Ramblas, walk up seeing street entertainers, market stalls etc cathc a HOHO bus at the top, lots to see .

Liverno - you will need to book a tour here if you want to see The leaning tower of Pisa or Florence which are both well worth a visit, either both in one day or just one of them. T

Cartagena - dead easy to do on your own - lovely place visited last year, would love to go back. The whole place seems to shut down from 2 - late afternoon though so see what you really want to see first. Tourist info right on the front in the most amazing building.

Hi LibraLass - noticed you are going on the Fjords cruise in August - my elderly neighbour is also going and cannot access the internet to get the list of shore excursions. Do you have access to an electronic copy please, as I cannot get to her personalised booking area on the P&O site and she would like an idea of costs before she boards. I think that her travelling companion has the paperwork but she doesn't live very close by and this is causing her all kinds of concerns!

Many thanks in advance, hope you can help :)...
