4th of July in Honolulu

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some input and info. My sister and I just booked the POA for June 26, 2010. We are super excited about it. We are trying to figure out our schedule. We are trying to decide if we want to stay a few days after the cruise or arrive a few days earlier to see Pearl Harbor and USS Arizona. We are planning on going to California and spending a few days at Disneyland and then in San Diego after the cruise. Since the ship arrives back in Honolulu on July 3rd should we stay in Honolulu for the 4th of July or head to California?? Does anyone know if there are celebrations and fireworks in Honolulu that are worth staying for or should we head to Disneyland??

Thanks!!!

Oh my goodness, yes! They have one of the greatest displays of fireworks in Honolulu that you will see anywhere! We've gone to "Magic Island" (located to the left of Ala Moana Beach Park, across from Ala Moana Shopping Center) twice out of the past 4 years. In fact, we just got back. The fireworks are free. Not only do they last a good while, they are spectacular, and unique. You'll see some fireworks that you've never seen anywhere else. There are lots of good vantage points. Us? We like to get up front. We buy a plate lunch at Ala Moana Shopping Center and the walk to the very front of the seating area at Magic Island. It's crowded, but there's always room for another picnic blanket.

Enjoy!
