Heirloom Posted August 30, 2009 #26 Share Posted August 30, 2009 We have opted away from extended.....primarily for 2 reasons: Don't like: a) potential privacy loss.......believe there is "viewing" potential from some standard balconies , i.e., looking back. b) Rowboats sticking out below straight down.....not a prettty sight for us. But balcony size 6x10.......that's-a nice-a.

We really didn't notice either of these - in fact the extended balcony felt more private than a regular one where the "wings" of the bridge allowed easy viewing. These are so recessed that it actually offers less of view for others. I was a bit worried about the lifeboats below - they really aren't as bad as you think. You can only see them if you are hanging over the rail and looking straight down - you are high enough above them you can still see plenty of water below you. Cruzman Posted August 30, 2009 #28 Share Posted August 30, 2009 If you go to book the cruise and select a room you will see exactly what I pasted in my OP. It lists 8E as extended but it isn't. YES it is! It measures 6' x 10 '. Std balconies are 4' x 10'.
