Help PLEASE re:airport ? flight time home from miami

I am booking my own air fare and thought a 11:30am flight home would be fine. I would be getting off of the majesty and going to the miami airport. One travel agent said that was a too early flight and so did someone at RC's 1-800 number. I have until tomorrow to decide about the 11:30 flight out of miami. Can someone who has been through this help me out. How far is the airport from the dock? Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I had a 11:45 a.m. flight out of Miami two weeks ago coming off the Navigator. We made sure to get the luggage tags for the first ones off the boat. They called our tags at 7:30 a.m. We didn't leave the boat until 8:15 a.m because we felt 7:30 was just too early. It was about 15-20 minutes to clear Customs, we then got our luggage, grabbed a taxi and we got to the airport at 9:00 a.m. We had plenty of time. Another couple traveling with us had a 12:00 p.m. flight out of Ft. Lauderdale and they also had no problem. I would say take the 11:30 flight, you should be fine.

We had booked an afternoon flight, but got to the airport before 9:30 (even having later baggage tags) and caught a plane about 11:00. There are plenty of taxis, and if you get the earlier baggage tags you should have plenty of time in general (there's always the emergency when the ship does't get into port on time, but fortunately those occasions are rare).
