CTKath Posted May 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I tried to book one for our family of four, but they won't take a booking for less than 5 people. Oh well, I was looking forward to it. I guess I'll stick with my JS/D1 adjoining cabins. My TA was surprised. thedrunkrock Posted May 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2004 That is correct, the Royal family Suite and the family Ocean View are reserved for parties of 5 at a minimum.
LibertyBelle Posted May 11, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2004 That's strange. We booked Explorer for Halloween in a Royal Family Suite for 4 people. I booked it online though (which only allows you to book 4 people)...we have since added a 5th person but the original booking was only 4. Hum... so what if someone in my party cancels out will they make me move or am I set because it is already booked???? Now I am worried.... thedrunkrock Posted May 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2004 have it booked they wont kick you out, it would have to be some major reason as to why they would have to do that but I wouldn't worry about it.

CTKath Posted May 11, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I don't know. I had asked my TA if it would be possible if when we're closer to sail date we could get it then, but she said she doubted it. Good for you! Have a great time! bartelbee Posted May 11, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Have you considered calling RCI directly about this? When it comes to booking cruises, I've learned, I've got to keep asking everyone until someone comes up with the answer I want. I recently attempted to book a family suite on the Enchantment and was told by several travel agents, as well as 3 different RCI reps, that the likelihood of getting one was slim. I didn't give up, though, and next time I called, I got the conscientious agent who said, "wait, let me try something," and all of a sudden I had the choice of two FS cabins. As the RCI rep said, persistence pays off. And just for the record, the original booking was for 4, though we later added a fifth person.
42trvl Posted May 11, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I second the calling directly approach. We have had much better luck by being persistent ourselves than waiting for a travel agent to get us what we want. It took months of my calling almost every day to get a family room (FV category) on a Celebrity cruise we are taking this summer. Most people were not too helpful, but eventually we got through to someone who was great about seeing what would be coming up when. A number of cabins are usually held for/by group sales... Also, we booked a Royal Family Suite on Explorer of Seas for April 2005 a year in advance for a family of four with no problem. This was done directly with the cruise line. They make it very difficult and confusing however. On Jewel of Seas, one RCI agent told us certain cabins we wanted had to be booked for at least 3 people, yet thourgh another rep we were able to book it for two.
