Very short Spirit review-No need to get yourself another beverage

Hi -

We were also on this cruise, it was great to read what you thought and see your pictures. We had a fabulous time - except, for the weather the first night and into Saturday - hence why we didn't show up for the Meet and Greet - unfortunately, 2 of the 4 people we traveled with were very seasick, and so also was my son. And I awoke to a nasty cold, so we thought it best to lay low for the day. I felt bad to have missed it.

The cruise was wonderful overall. We ate many of our dinners in Windows (which the menu did change nightly), and although we didn't plan on it, we ate one dinner at Cagney's and one in LaTrattoria. I didn't like the idea of having to pay extra- but both were well worth it. The service and the food were extraordinary. Buffet was mediocre most of the time.

This being our first trip to Bermuda - we were off and running all three days there. The first day to Horseshoe Bay we found disappointing. Although it is a beautiful beach - it was very crowded and full of very prickly seaweed. Our second day was a bit of a fiasco trying to get out to St. George's - spent about 2 hours on a bus (nice to see alot of the island) but gave up in Hamilton and came back to the dockyard, where we found our way over to a secluded area that was heaven. We stayed for a several hours collecting sea glass and enjoying the water and views. Our thrid day, the men went golfing (which they thoroughly enjoyed - and arranged on their own for a lot less money!) my sil and I took the 4 kids to St. Catherine's beach - by ferry - which was absolutely stunning!!!! Very few people on the beach, gorgeous water, more sea glass, a short walk to explore the fort. Although small, it was one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. While waiting for a taxi to come back, a local came by and offered us a ride - interesting conversation to learn about the island from a native.

On the ship, we caught a couple shows, we really enjoed the crew show on the last night. The casino was decent to us. Met some very nice people, and can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff. I don't think I ever walked by anyone without a friendly greeting.

I'd be happy to answer specific questions if anyone has them!

More? OK, let's see - this was our second cruise on the Spirit, and the ship is really beautiful. We did see a little deterioration, some rust and such around the pool area especially, but overall very clean.

The itinerary was great - it was so nice to have nearly 3 days in Bermuda - we didn't feel rushed at all. I would do it again, probably on the Dawn, just to be on a different ship. We are from CT, so sailing out of Boston or New York is so convenient for us.

This trip we made an effort to do more than just sit at the pool on the ship, although we did do a lot of that. The shows and games were fun. The games around the pool (Men's sexiest legs) were a hoot. The atmosphere around the pool especially is party like, but not rowdy. Like I said, the casino was decent to us, my husband played blackjack at the poolside table and then again in the casino. I enjoy just watching it. Our kids, 8 & 14, were amused the entire trip, without going to the kids club.

Got my pics developed already and find myself longing to be there again!!

Awwww! You're making me miss the Spirit! I didn't think that was possible- last time I left I thought "I am done with this ship now." I have had three great cruises on her. Your favorite spot is mine, too! Exactly!

Glad you had fun and thanks for the pix-

Were you actually able to find a spot near the pool so you could enjoy a dip and the surrounding activities? It looks like a good-sized pool, but I'm a little concerned about it being the only pool on the ship (other than the kiddie pool/play area).

I've only been on one cruise and it was extremely difficult to find a chair by either of the two main pools, or even around the deck above the pools.

There was an adult's only pool, but there were kids in our travel group so we didn't hang by that pool at all. Therefore, I can't say what the atmosphere was in that area, but at the other pools it seemed like fellow cruise guests must have gotten up at the ass-crack of dawn to somehow claim themselves a chair for the day.

Although I was disappointed by the whole "chair hog" thing and was only able to get in the pool once or twice in the 4 sea days we had, I still had a terrific time on the cruise.

I really want to go to Bermuda, and I really want to go on another cruise, and I'd really like to sail out of Boston (since we only live 55 miles away), so I'm really interested in all things to do with Norwegian Spirit!

July 2009: Carnival Miracle

Hello:

Let me say that my family and I traveled last year on the Spirit out of Boston in May... Me. 40, DH 43, and DD 9. We had a fabulous time! I will say, the Spirit was much more laid back than the Dawn as far as activities going on, but relaxing! Oh yes. We laid by the pool, no problems finding a lounger pool side, we partied (is that a word)? Ate well, and overall have a fabulous time! No complaints at all. The best part was that you are in Bermuda for a number of days, so no need to be in a hurry to get off the ship! Sleep late, have your breakfast, and then get moving.....

Me and my girls, DD 10 and 20 are leaving on 4-11-10 going to Bermuda on the Dawn of out NY, and I can wait! I love the Spirit and I love the Dawn..... Anymore questions, feel free to ask........
