Do swimming goggles need treating?

Hi All,

Following the tips here re treating my snorkelling mask last year, I have now purchased swimming goggles (chlorine stinks my eyes).

Do they need the same treatment pre-use as a snorkelling mask ? ie. toothpaste to remove manufacturer's film, so they don't fog.

Thanks,

Anna

I think most fogging during snorkling/diving results from inadvertant exhaling through the nose. Goggles should be fine without treating them. If they do fog initially - once they've adjusted to the water temperature, rinse them once and you should be fine.

Have fun.

You can buy a defogging liquid that comes in a small bottle. We have dive shops around us so don't know where to tell you to get it. I use it instead of spit when snorkeling. Maybe google can tell you. Or go to discoverydiving.com a local shop of ours.
