Confused about tender/dock

Going on Valor 11/08/09. Just printed out docs and according to the docs Belize is not a tender port. They have a *next to ports that are tendered and the * is only by Grand Caymen. Does anyone know if Belize does have a dock?

We sailed on the Valor earlier this year and it is definitely a tendered port. From what I understand, the harbor is very shallow. All ships tendered quite a ways out. High speed boats were used to bring you into Belize City but it took about 20 minutes. Next year we will visit Belize on the Carnival Dream and I'm seriously considering booking an excursion directly through the ship. Some of their own excursions pick you up and drop you back to the ship avoiding the long tender back and forth. Carnival is not the most organized when it comes to tendering. Even though we're early people the lines were long and very disorganized. People who came down later than us were allowed to cut in line and there was alot of bad feelings in the crowd.

this is one port i recommend doing excursions through the ship...usually, when booked through the ship, the excursions will meet somewhere (like the theater) when called you make your way down to the gangway where ship excurions get 1st tender, as well as VIPs.

everyone else has to get a number and wait.

we were on NCL, got on the 1st tender and were on the bus heading to lamanai before the next tender made it to dock.

the tenders are BIG, then hold 150 people..but it does take some time for get everyone, who want to go to shore, off the ship.

Belize currently has a new pier under construction but has been hitting many snags.. Carnival might just have hopes that it will be ready by then,,, (my fingers are crossed that it will be in December!)

I just looked at my Docs for December and it says tender... :*(

I just booked my excursion for my December 13th 09 cruise this week and yesterday the excursion agent from Belize emailed me and told me that they are expecting to be in "the new dock by the middle of November" and new information as to where we should meet will be sent in the very near future!

I have sent him a new email asking for more details about the new dock. I will post updated information when he replies.
