Adult Drink Package is Back
I second that if they include bottled water. I love drinking water but I can't stand the taste of cruise tap water. So I always am sensitive to the pricey bottled water and never drink enough (one can only deal with so much lemonade and iced tea).

Anyway, I love water...and can't get enough of it. It kills me how expensive bottled water is on-board. $4.00 for a liter bottle? I'd go through that in a few minutes on a regular water-drinking day.

If anyone knows whether water is included, I'd love to know. Because I could easily drink that much in combined water, wine and cocktails over the course of a cruise.

Cheers,
Esther
Why don't you take your own water on board? We took 3 cases on our last cruise.
I think people would buy it though because it'd make them feel free to imbibe all they want.
Which would be good for RCI as people who have imbibed a bit more will probably have the tendency to spend more elsewhere, such as the Casino or the shops. I know I have made a few "financial decisions" in the casino that were regretted a bit the next day
Why don't you take your own water on board? We took 3 cases on our last cruise.
Good point...we don't, mostly because by the time we lug ourselves, our clothes and our activity gear onto a ship, there's not a whole lot of extra hands and space for lugging around cases of water or anything else. We travel pretty efficiently, but even on our last 9-day we still had 3 small suitcases (one for DH, one for me, one for our formal wear) plus a duffel bag for our snorkeling and photography gear.

And yes, I've read all of the posts about travelling light...this IS light -- for us :)

Cheers,
Esther
At 50 drinks...it is looking better.:) If it included wine by the glass at dinner, it could be worth the price....how high do some of their by the glass drinks go?

But that would still be 7 drinks a day to break even if each one cost $7. Not sure we'd drink that much, but it surely would keep me from nagging my husband about getting another drink at cruise prices!:D
I thought this sounded great---until I thought about it a bit. I assume you pay up front for all the days of your cruise. I could easily drink more than $50 in drinks per day----but what about the port days? I don't think that coming in from a day in port and having dinner that I would make it worth the money for me. Our next cruise has 5 days in port. I think this could be where they make a bit more money---just my opinion.

but I'm the sort of person to buy a round of drinks for my friends. So I'd order a bucket of beers for us all and we'd drink them and I'd put it on my tab. In this case, I would have already paid for it.

Granted, I wouldn't do that through the entire cruise, but I don't want to be told that I can't buy my friends a drink if I want to when I've already paid for the alcohol!

Any word on what ships this is on? I'd be interested in it on the Radiance 01/23!

let me get this straight, on any royal ship, theres an offer for 50$ PP you get unlimited drinks anytime, anywhere????

does this include soft drinks?

do they still charge you for tip or is it included in the 50$ per day?

and this also includes wine & beer?

how do we know what kind of alcohol is inlcuded?. like what kind of vodka & rum & beer??

My friends and I think this is a terrific idea. We don't always get off at the different ports because there is so much to do on the ship. I also like the fact that I wouldn't have to continually sign my name. Hopefully this new card will go into effect for all ships. Can't wait to leave on the Navigator on 3/5/05. Happy cruising!

<<im confused!>>

Weezi,

If you would read this thread from the beginning to end you wouldn't find yourself so confused.

All your questions are answered in my other posts...the only one I can't answer is if this is available fleetwide. I'm hoping it is, at the very least, I hope it is still available next year...we will cruise, again, next November or December and it will probably be on the Brilliance, again. We like 11 day cruises, and don't want to sail on the RCL Empress of the Seas.

Alcohol up to Premium level is included, top shelf liquoir is not, they will give you a list of all that's included before you agree to buy this... if you agree to buy, they will take your seapass card and charge 1,265.00 dollars to it...they will then run it through a special activation register and, finally, afix a yellow sticker to the card, that is the total price for 2 people for an 11 day cruise....50 bucks a day/per person equals 1,100 bucks they tack on a 15 percent gratuity. The charge will show up a few days later on your folio...it will say Schooner Bar 1,265.00. Actually, I just checked by final bill and the charge didn't show up until 12/17, we purchased it on 12/13.

Beer and Wine is included

Soda is included, coffee and speciality coffees are included and so is bottled water. Since the Brilliance doesn't have a Johnny Rockets I don't know if the shakes would be included, I do know that this card can be used for liquor and beer at Seaview Cafe.

And, FWIW, for those posters who would feel justified in buying one card and using it for 2, it's people like you who ruin good things for the rest of us. It's also called stealing! You wouldn't be able to do it, anyway.. the card with the purchasers info. is stored in the special activation register, the register comes with a keyboard and monitor screen, it has built-in software capabilities and there's a way for them to know if the card matches the right pax and, don't forget, anyone who would buy this card will be spending more than a bit of time at the various bars, those bartenders and waiters are famous for remembering faces and names to go with the faces!

Good luck to all of you who are cruising soon and I sincerely hope you will find the Platinum Plus Drink Program available on your ships!

Thank you for giving us all this information. It's greatly appreciated. My friends and I would not think of sharing this great deal as it would ruin it for everyone else eventually. Glad you had a nice cruise.

LOL! You're most welcome, Sandy! But, I know what you mean..I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should have kept it to myself! Just hope it's still available for US when we cruise next November or December. Have a great cruise and a fantastic time, we certainly did...but hey, it's a cruise and we ALWAYS do!

Uh, not quite. You DID say that you KNOW they are only good for ONE person, didn't you?

Whether you'd do it once or many times, you'd still be stealing! And if you don't want to be told that you can't.. then DON'T buy this program! Because, you WILL, most definately, be told that you can't!

You CAN buy your friends a drink or a bucket of beer......just hand over your seapass card and they will ring it through as a regular purchase, no charge for your drink, charges will apply for all of your friends drinks. Simple. I hope it is NOT available on the Radiance sailing 01/23.

Did you get a chance to check this out on your recent trip? I read that you were going to report back but did not see anything. I will keep checking back to this thread as I will be on the Radiance in March and am hoping that this $50.00 drink package will be there waiting for me;)

I sure hope that RCL extends this to all Ships and includes Celebrity. I missed the old beverage cards and would love to see them back. This card would not be expensive if as it is stated it includes bottled water, lattes, after dinner drinks, etc. - Have to ask though - How does it work with room service?:)

Just off the Brilliance. Not there, either. Was told they experimented with it and it didn't work. Too much abuse both by excess drinking and people trying to cheat by ordering drinks for others as discussed above. Anyway, we still had a great cruise. My report appears. . .
