decoste45 Posted August 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2009 I am wondering about spa gratuities and am hoping that someone can answer this question. I usually enjoy 1 spa treatment on every cruise. On my cruise last year on the NCL Sun I took advantage of a "choose 3" spa deal that they offered in port. I THINK it stated that the 18% gratuity was included. After my appointment I left a 20% tip on the sail and sign sheet and as I was walking back to my room I was wondering if I really just gave a 38% tip as the tip was already part of the price. Am I mistaken to think that gratuity was included??? I plan on using the spa on our upcoming Jewel cruise and I really don't mind leaving a tip... but if it's already included I won't leave additional unless the service and treatment are worthy. Just wondering... Thanks everyone.:D

Thanks everyone.:D the gratuity is included, and yes you just gave a 38% tip. but that's ok. you are not obligated to tip additional. what my DW and i do is give $20 in cash to the person, as a more personal "thank you". so if the massage was $100, it ends up being $18 + $20....yeah 38%. we don't do spas at home because you get all relaxed only to come home to the madness. we use the spa as one of our "excursions". we know it's marked up...but that's what vacations are all about.....for us, anyway.
