Boarding when in a suite

We splurged for our Sept-12 Explorer cruise out of Bayonne and got a Grand Suite. I'm not sure what to expect when we board. I don't remember from previous cruises but is there a completely separate line to get in to board faster? Thanks!

Expect to be escorted to a "suite" check in, then, depending on where you are boarding (what city, country) you will have priority boarding.

Once onboard, the amenities will include (where approved) breakfast in a specialty dining room, and a concierge lounge for cocktails from 5 PM to either 8 or 8:30 PM. The concierge will also help you with different functions on board.

There is nothing fancy about staying in a suite on RCCL........except the real estate........or to put it in lay mens terms......the square footage!

Yes. You may be in the same line as Platinum, Diamond and Diamond Plus C&A members, or you may have a dedicated suite line. Last time I sailed on Monarch in PC and Mariner in LA, suites had their own line and P/D/D+ had their own line, so they may be doing that in all of the ports now.

I just got back from the Explorer out of Bayonne. There is a separate line for suite, platinum, diamond, diamond plus members. Nothing special but a little shorter maybe. IMO Bayonne is not a pretty port and the Welcome Aboard picture for us had an ugly brick wall as a background. I actually noticed that most people had the fake ship background so I'm thinking they were the regular guest, so I think the regular guest actually got a better welcome aboard picture if you care about that kind of thing. I have so many it really didn't matter. We had a GS, this was my 4th and we love it. It is a really nice size and has tons of storage. We did not even use the 3rd closet for a 5 day cruise. The concierge lounge is nice and Ricardo is the best concierge I have had so far. I love the lounge, the coffee the little snacks and cocktails at night. You can also connect from here if you bring your laptop. There is no wifi in the cabins, only at the RCCL online stations and in the concierge lounge. You can also get into the ice show by just showing your card, you don't even need a ticket. They claim there are reserved seats for the suite guests, but I could not find any. I was just directed left when I got in the doors, but no seats were labelled and every was sitting everywhere. Also, they claim that suite guest can get special lounge chair set up by the pool. I had no trouble even on sea days getting a prime chair so I never looked into it. They also claim that suite guests have piority dinner reservations, HA, HA, NOT a reality, check out my review. Oh, we got a fruit platter at embarkation, chocolate covered strawberries formal night and a cheese platter another night delivered to the room, a nice perk. I really do like the suites, I have no interest in butler service, the suite attendents are so attentive I can't imagine what else I would ask for if I had a butler. I would'nt want some upacking my stuff and I don't like eating the cabin, so RCCL suites give me everything I think I want. Enjoy. Check out my pictures in the link in my signature. Laura
