Children and dress code on Wind

Just back from a Med cruise on the Wind this being our first cruise on this ship but our 5th with SS. I have to comment on the number of children on board. There were about 35 and since it had a total of 290 passengers you can see that this is quite a large amount. I was very surprised, these ships don't cater for children. One child was in the bar until 2am when she suddenly threw a pack of cards at her brother which landed over other peoples tables. The dress code was also very lax. Now that they have "dining under the stars" which is a casual - shorts and tee shirt venue - in my opinion it has really spoilt it as SS say that after meal times anyone is allowed into the bars. You can guess what some are dressed like and management do not seem to do anything about it. Is this what SS is now turning to!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope not. Shorts and T shirts are no evening attire. Did not see anyone wear this with the poolside BBQ last year. Also children do not belong in a bar at all end certainly not at 2 AM. Bad upbringing parentwise IMHO.

Good Afternoon from Canada,

We recently returned from 10 glorious days aboard the Wind. There were 22 kids onboard. I've never seen so many on a Silversea cruise. The majority of them were extremely well-behaved. A couple of nights there were 3 young girls (under 8 yrs) dancing on the dance floor in The Bar after midnight. Many fellow guests onboard complained to management about the children in the bar at this late hour. It certainly isn't the place for kids at this time. Besides, the parents weren't anywhere in sight.

This isn't the norm for Silverseas. I imagine many of them signed up during the brief special that Silverseas offered a few months ago at 199.00 per child sharing a suite with their parents. Thanks to Steve Tucker for listening to the loyal customers of Silverseas and removing the program as quickly as it was introduced. Thanks Steve!!!!

All in all, it was an amazing voyage. This was our 14th voyage with SS and one of the best we've experienced to date.

Bon voyage!!

My wife and I have just returned from a week on the 'Wind'. Really great cruise but I echo the comments made about children - came as a surprise to see so many youngsters on board when there is little to occupy them. Also, I did notice a chap in the bar, after dinner on the last night, wearing shorts. I hope that this is not evidence of a more liberal attitude by Silversea.

However, I am delighted to say that I was not troubled at all by smokers on this cruise.

The ship looked great after the refit and the staff were brilliant especially the entertainment team led by Martin Blanar the Cruise Director. The food was delicious and it was wonderful to see Jorge, the Maitre d'Hotel, again.

We are scheduled to celebrate our October anniversary on the Wind on its cruise from Nice to Athens. I am not bringing my kids, and truthfully do not want to see anyone else's, especially in the bar after midnight! If I wanted to cruise with children, I could bring my own, or cruise on one of the lines that is family oriented!

I sincerely hope that parents will not be taking their kids out of school to cruise the Mediterranean in October.

That all being said, I am not going to think about this anymore and concentrate on picking out my clothes and planning our shore excursions!:)

Jorge aka George Clooney is the best !!

Jorge boarded the Wind the same day we did.....July 18th. It was fantastic sailing with him again. He is certainly the best Maitre d"hotel with Silverseas. He's professionalism and sincere kindness is unsurpassable. Even when he is jogging off the ship, he always took the time to stop and speak to us. Once you've sailed with Jorge.......what can I say......he's the ultimate!!!

We've sailed with Jorge about 8 times over the past 12 yrs. Those of you joining the Wind....please enjoy! and please give him our best wishes from Jay and Scott of Toronto.

You're going to love the new and improved Wind. Don't think they'll be any kids onboard this Fall.

Bon voyage!

Get rid of the kids especially in the bar. Children do not belong in cocktail lounges at any time or anywhere. Shame on SS management for not escorting them out and locating their parents. And Beanjar who said they were not TROUBLED by smokers on their cruise this is for you:p.

I am a considerate smoker and I find your remark uncalled for. I am very sure I coud find something about you that would BOTHER me. You do know that SS has a liberal smoking policy, if it is so bothersome to you, go to Regent or Oceania. Or, do you want the world to bend to your will?
