Gem vs Jade

Ive been on neither but on Jade next. The ships are very similar in age, size, etc. However the Jade used to be situated in Hawaii and a lot of the décor reflects that. No big deal for me... Some don't care for it though.

I've been on both: Gem for a Western Med and Jade for a B2B Britain and Norway. The prior comments are correct. Food service for breakfast in less than Caribbean weather stinks on both. Decor issues stand out: Gem was tasteful, Jade, being a former dedicated ship in Hawaii, was very out of place and cheap looking.

Why can't people just answer the question?

Main Differences

Gem has Bliss and bowling aft on deck 7, shops midships

Jade has the shops aft and a lounge with games rooms midships.

The crystal atriums are also very different due to the layout of the stairs.

Gem has a big screen for doing Wii.

Gem as climbing wall.

Bar city seating areas are sightly different.

Great outdoors layout is a little different, prefer the Gem.

Casino layouts are different.

The bar seats in spinnaker lounge on the Jade(and Jewel) are not as comfortable as those on the Gem(and Pearl)

Deck 15 Delux owners suites are different.

Not upto date with the entertainment but the Jade had dropped second city and does not use JAR for the shows.

Need to check some recent reviews to get upto date.

There are a lot of decor differences, tend not to notice after 5 mins.

Overall much prefer the Gem/Pearl but other factors come first like itinerary.

DH and I were on the Jade last December (its a nice ship but not a "comfortable" one as far as the public spaces go. Can you tell me is the food better on the Gem (as I thought it was terrible on the Jade)? We are seriously considering the Gem for their excellent itinerary. Honestly you can't beat the itinerary or NCLs prices but we are attempting to get a group together and just want to be able to answer all their questions honestly. Thanks for all the info....;)

GOSH...I was on the Jade for 21 day B2B in Jan/Feb and thought the food was great!!! Interesting how different two folks opinions can be... Sorry to hear that they no longer have Second City on the Jade. Enjoyed the troupe we had so much. One of the young men even helped guide one of our excursions early in the trip and it was great talking to him and then enjoying Second City's antics later onI also like the Jade's cheery decor. Of course I am a bit partial as we were in Hawaii on the Pride of America and saw her (then the Pride of Hawaii) tied up next to us at the Aloha Pier on her second cruise in Hawaii.
