Comparing Crown Princess/Freedom of Seas

Has anyone been on both of these ships or their sister ships? If so, can you give me your feedback on which you liked better and why?

We're looking for a cruise for me, my husband, 4 year old, my mom and grandma for December. I've done the Mariner of the Seas and we did Disney last year. I'm drawn to trying to the Crown Princess, but I wonder if the kids programming and pool area are as good on Princess as on Royal Caribbean. I was also hoping maybe the food was better on Princess.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

No. I don't think it does. That H2O zone looks awesome and I know my son would love it--so we will probably go with the Freedom. I love the MUTS thing on Princess, though. Disney had that too.

I really don't think of myself as a super picky eater, but the general food on both Mariner of the Seas and Disney Magic was sooo bad. I actually lost 2 pounds on the Disney cruise! Alternative restaurants on both were very good, but I couldn't eat there every night. Soooo I wanted to try Princess to see if it was any better.

I really really wanted Oasis, but I can't justify spending the money when I know a year from now the prices will be down.

Our last cruise was aboard the Liberty (Freedom's sister ship).

The kids were deliriously happy with both the Adventure Ocean and the H2O Zone water park.

I would recommend the Portofino's aboard the Freedom... I thought the food was exceptional... and we all ate too much. You know how it is... you see a lobster seafood skewer and a filet mignon... and you just HAVE to try it all.

Princess is still geared for the older adult set. We were aboard the Grand Princess a few years back. I remember my 8 year old doing the Kid's Club thing in a conference room... Still, he enjoyed it... they gave out medals constantly, so the kids all felt they achieved something.
