Just see someone at the SHOREX desk as soon as you get on board. There may very well be an opening immediately or if you're on the list, they can give you an idea of your chances.

Since Princess doesn't charge for reserving shore excursions, many reserve them and then change their minds once onboard. Always check for what you would like to book (even if it's waitlisted) after you get to the ship, many spots open up with cancellations. ;)

I think it all depends on the excursion. We tried to get on a couple of the really neat ones (helo over the island...cannot remember the island off hand) and Grand Cayman deep dive, and were never successful. If memory serves, one of the excursions was finally cancelled...not due to weather but for something else. Oh well, maybe next time. We will keep trying.;)
