macaroni Posted September 26, 2009 #26 Share Posted September 26, 2009 Use Priceline with resort....any hotel you get in that category is going to be great. Start bidding around $80 or so. We got the Intercontinental for $90 in January.
Webguy Posted September 29, 2009 #27 Share Posted September 29, 2009 Those prices seem very high. Why don't you just call the hotel chain for a room. I got the Caribe hilton for $237.00 and that is for Jan 1. Now the total will be about $299 once you add the taxes and resort fee, but that is still way cheaper than your price. (note: this is a senior rate, but you can get a room a bit lower if you pay inadvance. I think it was $229 plus taxes) Good luck Helen When did you book that? Now they want in access of $339. texancruzer Posted September 29, 2009 #28 Share Posted September 29, 2009 If you want some place SPECIAL....... El Convento (350+ year old convent - now a 5 star hotel) It is pricey but right in old San Juan and walking distance to everything. We stayed 2 nights precruise and loved it. For one night reservation - call hotel direct as website says 2 night minimum. If they can they will accomodate 1 night. For breakfast - La Bombonera. 100+ year old diner in OSJ....... have a mallorca ! Full menu but their morning pastries are to die for !!!!! Going back to SJ in Nov. but will only be there one day port stop...... :( Still plan to make a quick stop at La Bombonera (perhaps lunch)
longbottomricard Posted October 1, 2009 #29 Share Posted October 1, 2009 I read about a website called www.HotelPlusPortal.com on CruiseCritic. I just booked a pre-cruise room at the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel & Casino for only $84.50!! I'm sure our room will have a horrible view but who cares. Two years ago we stayed at The Gallery Inn in Old San Juan before our first cruise. It was wonderful but very expensive. This time we are going to save $$. I just tried this site and got the same deal for Dec. 5 pre-cruise. We stayed here last year and it was great, thanks for the tip!
