emsachs Posted December 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2004 Hi! We are booked on Volendam June 2005 on Verandah deck cabin 6171. This cabin is close to the midship elevators/stairs. Because we are only 1 level up from UpperPromenade deck, how much noise will there be from the bars/lounges/elevator? We are not as concerned with people walking by late at night as we are with loud music, etc.... One of the reasons we booked HAL was because it is NOT a party ship. If you look closely at the Verandah Deck plan, that solid black line in front of your cabin is a wall. The elevators and stairwells appear to be far enough away to get to them. That area is sort of foyer area. Don't seen any problem from below deck either. The piano bar (which would be the most likely to have some noise) is on the far end of the and is the only music associated with the Seaview Lounge. The music from the Explorer Lounge is almost always the soft type, Rosarios Strings, or some other quiet type. No fear of any loud amplification of any kind. Happy cruising...... the2ofus Posted December 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2004 Have had cabins near elevator/stair lobbies several times on various HAL ships. Have never noticed any noise. The areas are all carpeted and there are all sorts of walls and partitions which baffle sound. Have never noticed sound travelling from levels above or below via the stairwells.
