Carnival Destiny-cabins above the casino?

We are cruising with extended family on the Destiny in July '10. My family often chooses to book two inside cabins with connecting doors, but the only cabins available for this cruise are above the casino (6199 & 6201).

I was hoping someone could tell us if these cabins will be noisy or smoky, being directly above the casino? Thanks!

I've researched this quite a bit, myself. We are sailing on the Destiny in November and have 6210/6226, which are above-casino balcony cabins separated by three staterooms.

The latest report was from someone in 6214, which is one of the three cabins in between ours. The person said that they never heard a thing, nor smelled any smoke.

However, that's just one report. Some others say they also haven't heard a thing nor smelled smoke, but still others say there have been issues. Some say that you can hear a faint slot machine sound, while others say it's been enough to be very annoying. As far as the smoke goes, MOST reports I've read have said it's a non-issue, but not all.

So unfortunately, I've never gotten a unanimous response with anything. Guess we're just both going to have to go and hope for the best! In your case, unfortunately, you might be more susceptible to both issues, as you have an inside, instead of a balcony (I can open the door). Thus, I'd take some earplugs, at least.

One other thing - I've heard it mentioned before that you'll probably have more problems w/kids running up & down the hall making noise, than you will w/noise from the casino.

Hope that helps!
