Will other Airlines try to "cash in" on USairs demise?

Will they start charging ridiculous fares to fly those same routes? I've found airfare I'm happy with but I hate booking this early. There were some awesome deals this past summer for Fall flights and I'm afraid if I book now I may lose out or If I don't book the prices will just skyrocket.

I know I know.......

lurker. When you find a fare that satisfys you, grab it. Don't worry about having the cheapest price of all the passengers. Yes, prices need to increase. The costs with almost all the major airlines fails to match their revenue. The majors have all be loosing money. Airfares are sometime lower than taking the bus or train. There is help with the low cost carriers such as Southwest, AirTran and JetBlue who are all making money and in the case of AirTran and JetBlue buying more new airplanes and expanding. Of course serveral are looking for any profitable areas of USAir such as the southeast shuttle.

Not sure when you're traveling or where to but you might get on some airline mailing lists to keep up with sales. Example I think AirTran runs a sale every 3 or 4 weeks. Some times a one day or two day sale and often longer.
