Hop on/hop off bus in SF

Recommended Posts

We bought an independent HOHO rather than as an excursion onboard, and it certainly did go over the bridge. Does the excursion confirm *which* HOHO company is being used? Just check their own website for maps - and frankly just book direct instead of wasting extra $ on a cruiseline marked-up version that won't have any extra benefit (while regular coach tours could be custom-made for cruiselines, there's simply no practical way for a HOHO to be done differently for them - all HOHOs have to stop at all their normal stops otherwise you can't actually hop on and off!)

The description for the hop on/hop off bus shore excursion in SF says it goes to the Golden Gate Bridge. Does the bus go over the bridge?

The ship will dock at Pier 35? Complimentary shuttle bus will take cruisers to Pier 39. Among other things, the pier has booths offering independent tours and HOHO from different tour buses. The HOHO bus takes about 1-1 1/2 hrs one way depending on the traffic. It will go thru the city. Hop off and ride the cable car. Hop back on and bus goes over the bridge and turns around at the other end. You have to get off for a postcard picture(s). On your return, you will probably be hungry. Eat at the Fisherman's Wharf or the other stalls for seafood delight. Try their clam chowder. Afterwards, walk around the pier for sourvenirs and enjoy the museum. The HOHO tour was $25 pp the last time I was there.
