Boston cruise port question

We will be sailing on the NCL Dawn out of Boston. After we board the ship, are we allowed to get off the ship and walk around the port area? Thanks so much

I don't know the answer to your question but I do know there's really not much to see in the immediate area of the cruise terminal. You'd have to walk a good 15 minutes to get to anything interesting.

Boston port is pretty much just the pier and parking lots, no sightseeing things any where around it. We always just walk around the ship and get our bearings before we sail. We eat lunch and unpack when the suitcases arrive in our rooms. Have to around for the life jacket drill that is held before the ship departs. Probably not really enough time to go exploring Boston.
