  1. P&O do this route quite frequently, occasionally Royal Caribbean do too. It’s a great route 😊
  2. It’s never suggested that your comment was to do with poverty,O was pointing out it’s a negative judgement on a person as being “less” based on your own personal perception of a person based on appearance. And I’m all fairness “Chav” is generally a comment reserved for those perceived as “lower class” - rich people who dress like that are usually classed as “gaudy” or “eccentric” or “outlandish”. I think it’s also important to realise too that things like this are just fashion: lots of trousers (pants) are now baggy, linen, and striped, some are jeans fabric, satin or have lacy patches etc maybe they look like PJs to those people who don’t follow fashion, trends, but they aren’t. And even if they are PJs, so what: it literally has no impact on anyone. As long as people are wearing clothes I couldn’t give a damn what they wear, and I certainly don’t judge people for their choice of outfit wether I like it or not.
  3. I totally agree. Although I study literature and don’t live in a senior community (not quite old enough) and I always laugh about writers in the 17/18/19th and early 20th Centuries who make reference to the decline in society and disgrace of fashions and behaviours of the young like it’s a new idea. Some people don’t seem to have much awareness and seem to forget that they once were probably viewed as a disgrace for wearing flares, or mini-skirts, or for being men with long hair 😂
  4. I wouldn’t know what you mean: but then I don’t judge people negatively based on their appearance, I base my opinion on their words and actions. And my gran was poor and looked down on and persecuted for her poverty and social position, so people probably did say nasty things about her too - luckily for me she was one of the kindest and least judgemental person I’ve met 😊
  5. I thought considering the OP has cruises before, and that other people have provided details about luggage drop, that they would be aware of how luggage drop works and didn’t need it spelling out 😉
  6. I mean the line between PJ bottoms and baggy trousers isn’t always clear 😂 personally what other people wear doesn’t really affect me - as long as I can’t see butt cheeks that is 😬
  7. My Gran used to wear her rollers all day to work on a Friday in the 40s and 50s, it’s nothing new.
  8. You can drop your luggage off and then drive off and get some lunch or wander around the city: there’s lots of easy parking places 😊
  9. We were onboard the Britannia and a blogger was onboard (he had his blog title on his jacket) but he was very respectful about his filming and did his ship tour section filming early in the day when people weren’t out and about. He also was very careful to film so that it didn’t include other passengers etc. I have heard of the recent MSC controversy, and I think the two sides to the story often get lost! I prefer the blogs where they add their own dialogue or commentary afterwards: I don’t want to listen to someone heavy breathing as they wheeze about the ship. Just to add that my 6 year old son does “videos” for his channel (which is imaginary) so please don’t be offended if you hear someone saying “hey guys, I’m here with the old biddies and I’m hungover from drinking cocktails” 😂
  10. That must be it: my elaborate imagination has turned that addition in to a complete new venue 😂
  11. No, I thought I read Britannia had a new venue with flavoured donuts… I mean saying it out loud it does sound like a dream 😂
  12. They are very good with food restrictions and alternatives are available. Contact MSC before you travel: this is really important and means they can assist a lot better. They will then ask your father to speak to the Food and Beverage manager: they usually provide an open appointment hours on a card in the cabin. They can ensure that adjustments are made in the MDR for food by checking the menu for the following day and choosing food in advance. We found there were options in the buffet for Oat, Soya, and Almond or Coconut milk - not all were always available, but staff were able to get them if they had ran out. In the MDR is was only Soya I my experience, most other venues about the ship didn’t have any alternative milks when we asked (that’s not to say they might not usually, but we stopped asking as I’m ok with black coffee).
  13. The hotels in Southampton have very variable prices and are no different now to pre-Covid, it just depends on what is on at the time you are travelling (boat show etc). It doesn’t really matter where you stay in comparison with the terminal your ship is leaving from as a taxi from hotel to port isn’t expensive and can be arranged by the hotel. I wouldn’t let terminal affect your decision. Personally the Leonardo was a complete omnishambles - although I understand it has improved. There is a Novotel a 5 minute walk from the shopping centre and a 5 minute taxi ride to the Oceana/Mayflower terminal (the most commonly used Princess terminals). But honestly, there are lots of options from £35 per room 2* Ibis and upwards: but I would book early as soon as the rooms are released. I have seen £35 rooms being sold at £120 later to date when there is higher demand and less availability!
  14. No grats on P&O. Personally I don’t think the drinks package is worth it. The prices are standard UK City prices, and don’t add tax and service on, so relatively reasonable. It depends on if your G&Ts are double G and use a whole T every time: you might be borderline for making it worthwhile. There are drinks menus with prices on here and also places like Cruise Mummy and Emma Cruises websites have details too, including calculators.
  15. Have a great time 😊 Haven’t they added a new dining venue option, or was that something I dreamt?
