1. It's a funny old world but all appreciated.

Actually I was bring ironic about the difference between a t shirt and polo shirt. Polo is a brand so stranger still.

    Language eh?

So I shall wear my light jeans, a nice t shirt and branded blazer. And still look smarter than someone in a battered old suit, tie and short sleeved shirt ;)

    YUP! Enjoy.;)

  2. Thanks for clearing that up for us! We have purchased the three night specialty restaurant package, and having a suite, we are given the first night on ship free (excluding tips) at a specialty restaurant. We are considering having one dinner in our cabin and 2 in the MDR. Since we have to select off the MDR menu for our in-suite meal this has given us the opportunity to have a nice dinner in Bermuda. Any suggestions for a restaurant? Thanks!:D

  3. We have had penthouse suites on NCL and never felt different from anyone else just because we had a separate dining room for breakfast and lunch. After teaching for many years, I do not like buffets. They remind me of the school cafeteria. It is no different from some people eating at the buffet, some in the MDR and some in specialties. This is not different from some taking ship's excursions and some taking smaller private excursions. Some people pay more on Princess to be in the sanctuary and some are happy with the main pool area. If this change makes more money for Celebrity, it will be better for all who sail Celebrity.

    Ditto!

  4. DH and I will be celebrating our 45th anniversary. We have always celebrated alone. Seems life is always so busy, that just to be alone, together,is a celebration in it's self. We are the same with our birthdays. No material gifts, just being together. This trip will be a nice dinner in Normandy and a quiet stroll on deck, under the stars.. It's all in what you want and :) your happiness.Enjoy your days your way!

  5. You need to go up to a suite on Celebrity to get a bathtub.

For regular verandah cabins, the storage areas are better on HAL, especially for short people.

For some reason Celebrity put storage shelves in the S-class cabins high above the beds and greatly reduced the size of the nightstands, eliminating the nice nightstand drawers and the convenient drawers in the closet area that Celebrity provides on their older M-class ships.

We prefer the food and the entertainment on Celebrity.

We found the service good on both lines.

The libraries on HAL ships are greatly superior to those on Celebrity ships.

The Equinox does not have a nice promenade deck like HAL ships do.

As for decor and appearance, I think you will find the Equinox to be very modern, light and bright with more of a "wow" factor compared to HAL's darker, traditional look.

If you smoke, you may not care for Celebrity, which has a much more restrictive smoking policy than HAL.

If you are non-smokers you should be very pleased with Celebrity's lack of smoke in all indoor areas and on the verandahs.

If the shipboard computer lab matters to you, Celebrity has Apple computers while HAL has Microsoft.

Everything Freckle has to say is correct but I would like to add if want to be treated like royalty a suite can be worth it . Celebrity has the better perks. Whatever your choice :cool:ENJOY!
  6. Celebrity hands down. My MIL liked the S-class ships but found that if she did not get a cabin mid ship, it got quite cumbersome to get around the ship. Plenty to do for all on the s-ship but they tend to be too itinerary intensive making the trip very tiring. On the other hand she loved the M class ship most. She likes the comfort, style, class and dining venues on the M-class. She can go all over on the ship without asking herself " Am I there yet?" She has been to Bermuda and loves going there. Always something new to see and at her pace because she is there for 3 days.

As for you, the Silhouette is probably best for you, unless you go on a less hectic schedule, and have time to smell the roses. But I fully agree with your Grandmother, in that Celebrity is the line to book. What ever you choose....Enjoy!;):D

  7. You can request it, but I don't recommend it. The quality of the cheese is questionable.

Alternative: go up to the buffet and get some real cheese, crackers, bread, olives, whatever you want and bring it back to the room to enjoy while you are preparing for dinner. Or just relaxing on your balcony.

Ditto, but why not order the shrimp? have fun cruising:cool:

  8. From what I read on CC, just about any thing (with-in reason) you heart desires. Parties in your cabin, extra strawberries, reservations, seating preferences in restaurants, breakfast in cabin, lunch in cabin, diner in cabin, extra snacks..Seems what ever you need just ask, if he/she can't oblige, you will be directed to who can. Was advised that when requiring service, just be sure to give plenty of heads up time, The butler is not just yours:D. Enjoy your cruise.

  9. Hi,

Summit is a great ship. A more relaxed type cruise IMO. Less restaurants less people, different type activities, great Martini bar, Beer assortment is fine! Cabins about the same, if not a bit larger. Specialty restaurants are Normandy and Qsine. You have Bistro on 5 cost is $5.00. MDR food is fine, I don't like buffets so that would be your choice. Entertainment not as good, but still entertaining. I love the M class ship for its relaxed environment. You will enjoy yourself and there is a lot to do. Have a great cruise:D

  10. Don’t worry about reservations. We pre made a reservation for EVERY night of our cruise and every night we waited in the same line to be seated as those without reservations. Reservations did NOT matter.

We had 8:00 reservations. In order to be seated near 8 PM – we had to leave the show at 7:40. If we arrived at 8:00, we were seated closer to 8:20 – 8:30.

    Enjoy M

Cruisegirl1 is correct. You still have to wait for a table to free up. Sometimes you get there and you are ushered in, sometimes you wait 15 minutes. Enjoy your cruise

  11. Aqua is OK not great. cc cabins are in a better location. Blu is also OK. Dw and I prefer buying the three night specialty restaurant package, have dinner while out and about and one night in MDR. Satisfies our pallet and dining experience. No matter which you pick you will have a great time!:cool::cool:

  12. NCL verses Celebrity.

NCL mega ship as opposed to Celebrity m class.

Breakaway has 4000 people Summit has 2000 people.

Hall ways are very narrow on Breakaway which adds to the traffic congestion. When in Bermuda last, met many people from Breakaway. Complaints were food. Although many restaurants, fast food tasted the best. Specialty restaurants did not meet expectations. Pluses were activities. Although had very long lines to do anything, when they did get to do it, they had fun. Shows were great but had to hang around 45 minutes before the show started to get a seat. Same for lectures and games. Very active and noisy ship.. Summit is more subdued. you can read books on deck and not be interrupted. Specialty restaurants are exactly that a specialty. Games are fun and you most always have seating. Shows are so so but still entertaining. Cabins I find to be larger and quiet than on Breakaway. But you are on the Celebrity forum. Go on the NCL forum and get the scoop from them about their ship. I would pick Celebrity over NCL any day.

  13. If you are refused to be served and you are not toasted, unruly and you are sure it is only because you have the premium drink package...what would be your recourse? Who would you mention the rudeness to? Who would be in-charge to mention the incident to? I am sure Celebrity would not tolerate that particular kind of rudeness...or would it be a mute subject because Celebrity wanted to slow the intake of liquor to save bucks? Am confused as to what you would do?:confused::confused:

  14.
You'll only get food after working down in the depths of the ship - shoveling coal. :D:p

This is all much ado about nothing, do you really pay any attention as to what dining room others are heading to? I've never noticed. I've never dined in Blu - might give it a try on my next cruise but I don't notice who is Aqua or Suite or inside cabin or penthouse. Who cares?

I think having a special venue for the suites would be a welcome addition to the others perks.
Ditto! Jane is correct. Stop with class discrimination. That is not what this is. We saved for awhile to go on our upcoming cruise. We wanted to sail with all the bells and whistles. That is our choice, as it should be. Has noting to do with elitism. For all the perks Celebrity will add to suites, they will be paid handsomely by suite quests. Please don't tell me that you all don't break off from fast food, to eat in an upscale restaurant once in awhile. Same thing! Bet ya if Celebrity charged a fee for the Suite restaurant or Blu..Most of you would prefer to spend the money elsewhere as the food in the MDR is included in your fare.
  15. Have been sailing with Celebrity since they purchased the Galaleo. Never got an upgrade. Now booked in Royal Suite and there are only two above that and they are taken....so our june cruise to Bermuda won't have the upgrade fairy visit:mad: but who cares...We are going on our long awaited cruise. Happy Sailing to All!:D:D:D

  16. Back in the day of Noah's ark, and no cabin balcony's, all deck chairs were numbered buy your cabin #. Everyone had a chair. The problem came in when you wanted to be closer to the pool. People always moved their chair to prime spots. We prefer to be back from the pool..too busy and crowded. Now with those beautiful private balcony's...why is this such a problem?

  17. Suite guests will be able to retreat to an area that is theirs, Aqua has theirs and everyone else will have theirs. Probably will free up space for select patrons and be able to handle Blu walk ins. Many suite people pay the higher price for more personal space, and privacy. Perks are nice and I am sure the more the better. Probably will entice more folk to move up to a suite if the perks are special. It did for Aqua class! Why not for suites????? I would give up the laundry and internet specials for a quiet private dining area. IMO the MDR could use a lot less people, so one more restaurant would be a win, win for all.
