  1. Want a roomie? I'd love to do the TA on the Encore when it comes over but it is always priced out of my range for a solo.

My SO is doing his first cruise next week - I'm hoping he will love it, but I feel like a TA will not be his bag.

  2. Hi all,

Do any recent (Miami-debarking) Bliss cruisers have any info or a review on the luggage transfer service? I read about it on a review while the ship was in Alaska, I believe.

We have rather a late flight from FLL and I would love to UBER to the beach and then taxi to the airport at our leisure. I know renting a car is an option, but trying to keep all my options open.

    Any info is appreciated! Thanks!

Hey, was on last week.. saw staff putting towels out on the loungers for the stinky feet ppl.. did not see the velvet towels.. but maybe from staff?

I think it's a great idea! People will always put their feet up - shoes will make it dirty, bare feet will make it stinky. Towels, blankets, anything washable is the solution!!

  4. you are right. I think some do not buy enough wine at places like hotels and up scale restaurants to realize how expensive wine can be.
You dont have to be rude about it.

It still is expensive, just not out of line with some nicer hotel bars, or fine dining, particularly on a large city.

Not everyone lives in Miami or NYC.

  5. Of course not. $2100. was for two after various discounts. With OBCs the Bev pkg was about 28 bucks per day p/p.

I thought that seemed to good to be true!

While I think discounts can be used when comparing cruise costs, you really shouldn't count OBC not offered by the cruise line.

When someone says their cruise cost $3000 all in for drinks and specialty dining, you should probably compare apples to apples and not include TA credits.

  6. I didn’t hear about the women jumping, I learned a lesson the hard way if you know someone has had to much to drink DO NOT TELL THE SECURITY YOU WANT YOUR BALCONY DOOR SECURED, the next thing you know they are accusing the person of saying they are going to jump, them they grab a 108# women by the arm bruising her and to make matters worse they put the person on a do not cruise list, I was concerned my daughter had to much to drink and asked security to lock my balcony what a mistake that was.

This has literally nothing to do with the topic on hand, or even the topics that have grown out of the original topic, but I felt compelled to respond.

*** did you want NCL to do when you told someone that you didn't think you could control your drunk daughter from jumping/falling from the balcony? How did you think they would react?

  7. Lululemon charges $150 for leggings. Jimmy Choo pumps are 40% off and are still $350.00. BOGO sales these days are almost always Buy One Get One half off. Why don't they just say 25% off if you buy two? BOGO used to be buy one get one free!

Chevy Truck ads say they are the best truck, but Ford says they are? Kohl's puts t-shirts on sale for 40% off, but they have inflated the price so much you are still paying $20.00 for a plain t-shirt that isn't worth $10.00

Every day, every place, we are surrounded by marketing messages and strategies. We have choices between higher price points and lower price points. We all seem to be able to navigate through them with no problem...except for one: the "free" unlimited beverage package on NCL. With that one, we cannot seem to get past the asterisk that explains that free in this add is not free like in the Oxford Dictionary.

For God's sake people: do the math. Ignore the messaging and do the math. Price your trip with the sail away rate, then price it with the drink and dining package. Take the difference, divide it by the number of days and passengers, and look at that number. If you didn't have the drink or dining package, would you spend more than that on drinks (or dines?)? Yes: book with the package. No, book without.

You can't always compare to the sailaway rate. Depending on the category, it may not be offered.

  8. I liked Carnivals solution (though not sure how long it lasted) of putting time stickers on empty (hogged) chairs. If staff later saw a sticker past it's "time" they removed the items and the chair was free again. I believe 40 mins was their time limit. Enough for lunch on a sea day?

Also, I'd love to see cubbies and hooks near the pool/hottubs. Somewhere for my flip flops, towel, and book. Prevent a nearby chair from being used.

  9. I've never understood why people are so worried about their passports? You are in a foreign country, you should have your passport with you! You need to be able to prove who you are and where you are from. If a photocopy was valid, then wouldn't you be worried someone would steal that and use it?

Maybe it's because I'm a border-city living Canadian. I bring mine to Detroit all the time and carry it on me. No safe anywhere nearby.

  10. I was at an AI a few weeks ago and wanted to enjoy my morning coffee and book with a beach view. I found a great, front row, spot (with a towel) and sat down. I sat for 40 minutes, enjoyed it all, and left. Never did see the hogger.

I did leave my coffee cup so they knew I'd been there. Just my little petty move, lol.

  11. Love dressing up myself! Usually nothing too fancy, but I generally wear a sundress, or a nice little cocktail dress.

I've told my BF when we travel I really don't care what he wears to dinner but I'm dressing nice. If we are going specialty, he will usually dress to match me (in style, not hem length ;) lol).
