Hi Community
On explorer in April in a concierge suite. I believe you can only make spa bookings once on board. Is tha corrrect? Keen to burn the onboard credit in the spa on the sea day. Best to board and go straight to the spa was my plan but is that overkill?
Any suggestions as to what an hour massage costs on board would be appreciated.
With thanks

Hi all, explorer has lots of 5 hour shore excursions that start a 9.00 am. Back on board I presume by 2.00pm. Will the main restaurants be open still or just room service and the pool grill?

Chateaubriand definitely now going on the must order list. thanks all for your responses

Thanks TC2, very helpful. Agree with you on the Asian fusion, I prefer original and authentic. We are big fans of Indian food so will be in heaven and as for beef Wellington, now I'm excited. Best start the diet now.....

Interested to read mention of people placing special orders requesting particular dishes e.g. Sweetbreads. Not to hijack the thread, but has any one ever requested something that turned out to be really outstanding?

Yes, Gilley, counting--subtracting--multiplying--dividing even doing calculus :) but darn still only 21 days left :) and we have 18 1/2 hours of flying to do to get to Auckland.
So grateful to Flossie for posting while she is on board since no one else did. Tho, do know many cruise critics avidly post pre/post cruise but do not want to take up cruise time posting on cruise critic--and do understand this perspective tho don't practice it.
Gilly, btw, am now on final stages of organizing the meet & mingles for both Auckland to Singapore and Singapore to Hong Kong with the Voyager Groups Coordinator--Robby. Thankfully, my sources at Regent have let me know we can expect a formal Regent and Cruise Critic meet and mingle soon.
As a Hong Kong local, if you need any local advice happy to help if I can add Hong Kong port info to anyone's itinerary

I'm pretty sure that it does. Regent does make embarkation better than most other cruise lines and, IMO, there is nothing better than the Explorer!
Thanks TC2, one of our ports is Monte Carlo. Any experience of that port? I was hope we could basically do a self guided look around for a few hours and then head back to the ship rather than being dragged around in a bus on an organised tour. Always enjoy reading your posts by the way, keep up the great work as it's been appreciated :-)

Forgap, we'll be boarding Explorer in LA and sailing to Miami. Shame we won't get to meet - I guess ships that pass in the night might be apt on this occasion, for our first stop is San Diego! Thank you for kind words about my blog...I'll be sharing stories of this trip too and maybe you will be telling us about yours?
We've not done the trans-Pacific though know NZ well as a result of dh's work there. I'm envious of your trip, though on this occasion, can't really complain, can I?! ;-)
Alan, my apologies too - here's hoping you have a great cruise!
No worries Gilly and thanks to you and Forgap for the response. First ever cruise so hoping Explorer was a good choice.
Does anyone know if Rome/Citavichie will require a champagne laden trip to the theatre as part of boarding?

Hi CC community
A couple of very novice questions from a first time cruiser (booked on Explorer April 26 in a concierge suite):
1) I've read in a few places about the embarkation process involving being directed to the theatre. Is this correct? If so what's the point?
2) as part of embarkation I understand that our cabin is probably not going to be available. How do you know when it is available?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Very useful for a nervous first time cruiser. Looking at the ship plans 938 and 939 with the angled balcony look good. Does anyone have any experience of those cabins?

Hello
First time mid-40s cruisers. Totally torn between Seabourn Odyssey and RSSC Explorer.
Keen to have an all inclusive experience with really good food and great service. Nothing spoils a holiday for us like bad/lukewarm/average food or average service.
Any recommendations from previous cruisers?
Thanks in advance

First time cruisers here and would greatly appreciate any recommendations. Torn between a day Mediterranean cruise on either RSSC Explorer or Seabourn Odyssey.
We are a mid 40s couple. Quality food and genuine service matter more to us than say the ports or stage shows. Also keen for a real all inclusive cruise including alcohol and speciality restaurants ideally. Definitely wanted to avoid being on a crowded boat with people queuing for a spot by the pool.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Dave that is very useful. I see you have a few RSSC Explorer Cruises coming up. Any thoughts on which deck or location is best when it comes to the Concierge suites?
Best

Hi all
First time cruiser and looking to book the above ship and suite type. Hope its a good choice.
A question, if I look at the cabin layouts on the RSSC website the Concierge suites seem not to have any furniture on the balconies. This is as opposed to the Penthouse cabins layout which shows chairs and a table on the balconies. Does anyone know if the Concierge suites do come with balcony furniture?
Thanks
Alan
