  1. Hi;

    We are taking a private tour with Bernard in July. When the driver takes us to the beaches, are we able to rent chairs and an umbrella?

    Are there any beaches you would recommend over others? We will have two 15 year olds and a 13 year old with us..so I am not so hip on the nude beach scene....

    This will be the first time that we are not taking a tour thru the cruise line, so I am a 'newbie" to exploring on our own like this!!

    THANKS!!

  2. Why don't you just book the level of suite that you want in the first place? No angst, no heartburn.

    Not being obnoxious, just wondering . the OBC would be the same....and you would not have to switch cruise lines.

  3. TO OP:

    WHat did NCL say when you contacted them to see if they have a policy like the one Carnival has?

    Seems like perhaps your post was a way to receive assurance that your cruise is not gonna stink rather than to find out the answer to a question that would be resolved with one phone call.

    But as many have said- you have your mind made up and seem to be panicking .

    No platitudes from me....Your cruise has already disappointed you!!!

  4. Multi-line family thoughts: We switched from Disney to NCL when the kids outgrew Disney, and then left NCL because they did not do the Caribbean in the summer. Had done the Pearl/Gem/Jade and Jewel. RCL is simply not as as NCL. I had stopped even looking at the NCL page because we had accumulated so many Royal cruise credits...then I started reading about Breakaway. I had booked Explorer for nine nights for hubby's 50th. Our usual RFS was WAAAY out of price range- they sure hose you for 2 extra nights...so we booked side by side OS ...THEN I heard about Getaway!! While I would prefer a drive to Jersey rather than a flight to Miami, it was a no brainer. The NCL experience ( we have only been in the Haven/Courtyard ) is simply miles above the RCL experience. Have done Freedom class, Vision class and some others. We did try Grandeur out of Baltimore last summer- she was refurbished and lovely, but the Port Canaveral/Nassau route is so D U L L. Loved our trip as usual, but there were limited activities( yes, she is a tiny vessel..)and not much for the kids to do. I would rather sail 7 nights on NCL than 9 nights on Royal. Perhaps after Explorer is refurbished we will try her, but I am looking forward to being back on the NCL ships. Even WITH the added hassle of flying.

  5. I'm having a hard time finding out the different "suite perks" between RCC and NCL..

    Room service, eating in different rooms (breaky/Lunch) etc etc are all the same...

    gessl will find out soon enough..

    If someone can tell me the differences that would be fantastic :)

    Which NCL ship are you on, and where is the suite located??

    You will be amazed at how much better the NCL suite perks are- from daily treats of your choice to the Haven area..they are many. When we went back to RCL because of school schedules we were pretty shocked at the difference in suite perks. We had gotten spoiled by the Haven ( formerly "Courtyard" area , the butler, etc. Happy to have Getaway coming our way!
