  1. Hi.

I'm new to CCL. I've sailed twice (last on the Dream when it first came out) but usually sail NCL and RCCL. Anyway, I'm looking for the Breeze and cannot find it on the CCL website. I am looking to go away very end of February/beginning of March next year.

Would there be a reason why it's not listed?

I see sailings for 6 or 8 days. Which one are you looking for?

  2. PVP's don't work on commission, but I imagine their gross sales are a major factor in their quotas. Lower cabin price means lower gross sales.

Thought I wold give you all a heads up a recent experience with my PVP.

Either my PVP is not familiar with the price reduction program or she just doesnt want me to get one!

Here is what happened. We are cruising in a few weeks with some friends. My friend called me several weeks ago to tell me our rate had gone down and he got OBC for the difference. So I do what most probably do and call my PVP to ask if I can get this. I am told that "no, you dont qualify because all the cabins in your category are sold out, sorry"

I said "okay, makes sense to me" and didnt think about it again.

A week later my friend calls again and said he got another price reduction and OBC. So I call again and get the same story. "nope dont qualify"

My friend says to me, forget the PVP just go online and fill out the Price Reduction Form and see what happens. So thats what I did. Lo and behold, within 10 minutes i get an email saying i qualified and was given a $498 OBC. Since then, I have done this two more times and received credits each time. i am now up to $798 OBC !!!

I am wondereing why my PVP keeps saying I dont qualify. Does she lose commission? I dont know. Bottom line, when it comes to requesting a price reduction.. DONT GO THROUGH THE PVP!!

  3. Happy to be posting after finally booking out Fascination Nov 3rd cruise!

I will be traveling with my BFF and her hubby and 2 other couples. My hubby REFUSES to cruise (honestly he would be miserable anyway). It's costing less than $300 to add me as a 3rd person in BFF's room. About double that to book my own room. My BFF is insisting that it won't be a problem, but I don't want to intrude on their privacy (not to mention my own) and am considering sucking up the price difference to have a solo cabin. My question is, would Carnival take the $50 deposit I already paid and apply it to my own room or would they charge a change fee and would the change affect my BFF's rate? I don't want them inconvenienced in any way.

Either way I am looking forward to a much needed vacation and time spent with a long distance friend. Just want to make sure we are all comfortable.

    Thanks for any info!

In terms of whether it would inconvenience them or not, it depends on how much they were charging you. Was the cabin price split by 3? If you cancel, they end up paying more. I would leave it as is right now and hope for a single supplement sale later on. If you booked $50 deposit, you probably have until Oct 3 for final payment right? You may lose your $50 deposit by canceling from their room, but rebooking on the same sailing, they may waive it.

  4. Group rates can be adjusted to mirror any promotions that are offered. Group rates are not higher unless the group is buying additional amenity points. If you used a travel agent, they can change your cabin rates. They probably don't want to though. I have a group sailing in August and their cabins dropped almost $450 each today. I immediately changed their rates to the new sale. If it's past final payment there is always the option to upgrade.

  5. Does carnival still offer this? I can't see when trying to book.

They offer it but with all the other promotions available, it's not going to be less than them. On a cruise further out, probably more available.

  6. Well I guess I have to find a fabulously awesome PVP...I keep getting folks on the 1-800 line and one I spoke to the other day could have cared less, the second lady who explained the rates was clear, concise and way nicer but they didn't even suggest CASINO OBC...should I ask them? They offered to move me to a room by the Lobby, dining room or theatre...no way ..when it's time for bed I don't want all that noise! I guess I'm a newbie because I had cruised so infrequently that I didn't realize a lot of things like DON'T pay off your cruise before you have to...I thought I was doing a great thing by paying it off right away.. apparently that causes you to lose out on some price drops/perks ( according to lady at 1-800 number) I guess I learned a very expensive lesson ..that money could've paid our grats...oh well:o

You can pay off whenever you like. The restrictions are based on the final payment due date, not when you paid. #travelagent

  7. You are correct. Princess is giving TA's full commission in the FCC bookings. This came out Jan 9 in a bulletin, excerpt below...

    Dear Travel Agent Partner,

Our 100% Princess® Getaways, 100% off! sale has done a great job attracting cruisers to book our short cruises, and now it’s a more lucrative opportunity for you.

As you know, the “100% off” in this promotion is provided in the form of a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) on a future cruise booking of 7 days and longer. While our normal policy is to not pay commission on FCCs, Princess Cruises will now make these FCCs commissionable. This change is applicable to future 100% Princess Getaways, 100% Off! Offers; as well, Princess will automatically convert FCCs issued under the prior 100% FCC Offers to be commissionable.

This campaign has been very successful in allowing new passengers to experience our brand and bringing awareness to the new Princess Getaways product. And ultimately, we believe this extremely attractive incentive to book a longer cruise will develop long term customers for Princess and you, our valued travel agent partners.

We hope this added incentive helps kick-off a great 2014 selling year, as we continue to look for new and innovative ways to grow our businesses together!

    Thank you for your support,
