I think we were also both on the March '23 Sydney to Vancouver cruise, but never connected. You gave us some good info about Sydney hotels. We'll have to make sure we connect this time!

Another thanks for the extremely informative and useful post. We join the Pursuit February 20 for our 2nd Antartic trip. Our first was on the Quest in 2018, but we didn't get to South Georgia. We should make it this trip, though the closures are disappointing. Fingers crossed!!

BasandSyb Thanks for the hotel comments. On re-checking their website I find I can directly book a bridge or opera house view, which I had previously missed. So a Marriott Opera House view it is!

Agree 100 % with booking strategy. Ex LAX - SYD all flights are points. Some cancellable but all changeable. The LAX-SYD flight is cancellable until November 16. Until then, we'll keep looking for a decent points deal. 480k each at the moment!! Hotels stays are all points and are cancellable. We have to use the points before we run out of time!! Question.....last time in Sydney we stayed at the Four Seasons. OK but nothing special. This time we booked the Marriott Circular Quay. 3 nights, on points, so free. We have many Marriott points and are (almost) guaranteed any available upgrade. Google maps shows Marriott several blocks away from the harbor. Any comments? Philip, if Seabourn promised you bus class to Vancouver - and presumably back from Sydney - then you should get it. Our original thoughts were to go along with the changes. We then realized that on every one of the last 35 or so days we would probably be regretting it. Some years ago we spent 2 months in NZ, a couple of years later we spent 6 weeks traveling up Australia's east coast. This definitely impacted our decision.

We also cancelled the 65 day cruise and booked the 53 day return trip. Even with bus class air fares costing twice as much, we still saved a bundle. Discounts for club membership 5%, FCD 5% and early payment 10% add up. Don't know if you guys get similar deals to the US, but full payment by August 31 gives us the 10% discount........and they already have our cash! Being cautious, we booked the more expensive refundable flights through Flightease. If we have to cancel because of Seabourn we`ll get a full refund. Making the best of a bad deal. Our 50th wedding anniversary is next month. The cruise was a major part of the celebration. Not to worry, we're now trying to spend our savings in Europe 2023!!

Another disappointed cruiser. Not content to let matters rest, we sent emails to Seabourn and our TA. This resulted in the option to cancel for a FULL REFUND. We have until July 31 to take advantage. We are pleasantly surprised at the offer.
