  1. :)Thank you

Late December, 2017 aboard the Zaandam:

A severe storm was projected to cross the Drake Passage as we were to sail towards Antarctica. Very high winds and waves were forecast. The Captain chose to delay our departure from the tip of South America by 18 hours to allow for the storm to pass. He sailed the ship into the shelter of some islands near Cape Horn and we sailed a "race track" pattern, slowly, for those 18 hours. When we did begin our transit of the Drake in the vicinity of Cape Horn, the seas were rough. How rough? I was in the Crow's Nest and I found it difficult to maintain my footing when I was standing. This did not last long, however, and the rest of the transit was quite normal.

Going to bed that evening, looking towards the West. the end of the storm system was still visible on the horizon and it surely looked nasty even at some distance.

Even with the delay, we had 3 and one-half days of wonderful sightseeing, including the first day and a half when one Officer with whom I spoke said it was the most pleasant weather he had ever seen in that part of the world: blue skies with whispy clouds, light winds, cool but not unpleasant temperatures on the open decks.

It was a great cruise experience!

  2. I also agree with this. I never had any problem getting a bottle of water with something else at the same time.

I really think they only whip it out if they think you may be abusing the policy. It appeared I might be abusing the policy to get several bottles of water for my family while ashore even though every person in my party had a drink package.

As far as the freestyle machines I have no idea... but I guess I'll learn in about two weeks.

I agree, I always got a water with my cocktails no problem

  3. Here is my thinking. I bought the Ultimate Beverage Package for our upcoming cruise.

    5 (minimum) bottle water x 2.25= $11.25

    3 Pellegrino x 4.00=$12.00

    Soda package $8.00 a day

    1 Bloody Mary (day) $10.00

    3 signature cocktails $12.00= 36.00

    Total $77.25

You don't have to drink a lot or be drunk for the package to work. Cruising and buying the drink package is still better pricing for most all inclusives. I don't even drink some days at all inclusives, and never feel like I didn't get my money's worth.

  4. For all of you trying to decide if, you will get your $ worth buying the card. Maybe this will help. I bought the premium for $49 with tip $57 a day. First thing, if you don't buy a package the free water is not easily accessible at all times. Unless you go up to the bar. The Wind Jammer closes at 9pm. This is my opinion.

The soda package on the Oasis of the Seas gives you about 150 different choices of drink. Even Disani and sparkling Disani(even flavored)

Bottle of water is $2- I drank a minimum of 6 a day. I would order my $12 glass of wine and a bottle of water. Never did I have to wait any amount of time. They don't want people to get dehydrated. I would have a cocktail in the casino.

    6 bottles of water $12

    3 glasses of wine $36

    1 cocktail $10

I broke even. Some days I drank a few more glasses of wine or cocktails. It does not take long to get to $50 for drinks.

  5. Jill,

I would definitely recommend the up charge restaurants. We did Giovanni's, Chops, Central Park 150 ( they were out in Central Park giving a 30% discount , if you ate there right then and there. An employee came around, it was dead in the restaurant), and Izumi hibachi. If, you have not decide about the drink packages on day two they started offering 10 drinks for $79 which included the 18% tip. We tipped extra if they brought us drinks to table etc. I am not cheap, but keep in mind there is about $127 worth of tips on the drink package. RC needs to come up with a better way, you do feel obligated to give extra tips. I did tip a lot extra on the drink package for good service.

Don't let the opinion of anyone else bother you. People who pass judgement on others isn't enjoying life the way it's meant to be. Enjoy your drinks, who cares what others think.

  7. It's a great deal, if you drink a variety of beverages. The soda card is $6.50 a day, so that brings the break even point to $48.50. Throw in a few coffees and bottle water and break even could be four alcoholic drinks away. You can to your own wine flight by ordering 3 glasses of wine in the slotted time. You don't have to finish them. Enjoy!

  8. She is not obligated to get one.

It's supposed to be 15 minutes. In reality this isn't enforced often.

Yes, you could and I'm sure this is done regularly. I'd suggest tipping the bartender $5 or so with the first drink so he remembers you and will take care of you as you return to that bar.

Has a none been turned away for less then 15 minutes?

  9. I want to purchase the Ultimate Drink Package on the Oasis for our upcoming December 2015 cruise. I have a few questions for people who actually bought this package on Royal Caribbean. Can you get the bottle water unopened? I drink a lot of water, and would like to keep a few bottles for our balcony and for during the night. I don't want to have to get dressed and get a bottle of water at 1AM. Can you take the bottled water off the ship at the Port? Same for the Gatorade? Thank you.

  10. I drank a ton of bottled water, as well. Each time I passed by a bar, whether I wanted it right then or not, I'd ask for a bottle of water. I always had a few stockpiled in my room, or in my bag. They will not give you two at a time (which is a bit ridiculous in my opinion, but it is what it is) but it is pretty easy to stockpile them. When it was really hot, I'd ask for one, stand there at the bar and drink the whole thing, then ask for another. :)

Do they open the bottles, or can you get them unopened? Can you get beers unopened to keep in room for the balcony later on? I'm thinking of getting the $55 package. Thanks!
