  1. We were moved once on a Celebrity ship.

They had moved us from forward to midship which is considered an upgrade, but we were NOT happy. We much preferred the location of our first cabin and our luggage didn't arrive until almost 8 pm the first night(and had to cancel our reservation in a speciality restaurant as we had only our traveling clothes). That experience alone is why we don't even look at Celebrity anymore.

Voted: go on a luxury line

  2. Our first few cruises were European, we were a bit taken aback when we went on our first American line.

The main differences were the food, fellow passengers and formality.

If flying weren't so expensive and long we would only take European cruises.

  3. People on the biggest loser lose more in less time... 100lbs in 4 months means 25lbs a month, or 4lbs a week... That is hard, but not impossible or unhealthy.

ummm..yes it is. Have you read any of the articles about those tv people after the cameras stop rolling?

One guy who won Biggest Loser said he was peeing bloodthe day before he stepped on the scale for his final weigh in. And a majority of them have gained back the weight(and then some).

1-2 lbs a week is healthy, anything beyond that is messing with your health.

You could be 40 lbs smaller if you start today. Good luck! :)

  4. So were going on the Carnival Triumph in April 2014. So my girl and I where reading about people decorating their cabin doors, and my girl is a big DALLAS COWBOY fan and I wanted to decorate the door for her... Is this allowed? And what could i use to hold up decoration, (eaxmple ) thumb tacks .or tape,or magnet..

NO, THAT IS ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NOT ALLOWED.

However, if you decorate her door with

    DENVER BRONCOS

That is a wonderful idea. Everyone on board will admire your genius. :D

*we use magnets and/or blue painters tape.

  5. But how much of a cruise does a toddler remember?

How much of anything does a toddler remember?

Why don't you ask that of people who were abused or beaten as children?

If people really and truly believed toddlers didn't learn or remember from experiences, then we would all just leave them chained up in the basement until they turned 6.

The adults we become are shaped from the experiences we have beginning the second we are born. Some would argue, even before we are born.

    Sincerely,

Someone who always travels with my young child because spending time with family is what shapes us as a family.

  6. I should clarify that it also depends on your definition of "roaming".

Earlier I said I was allowed to roam about age 8, however that did NOT include just wandering around aimlessly all day long.

Basically it was: we had watches so my parents would say, "You may go to the ice cream/pool/shop/game room/etc... for X number of hours.

We will be at show/spa/room/etc... during that time.

You WILL be back by exactly 4pm on the button. If you aren't here by 4 and 1 second, you will not be on you own for the rest of the trip." ;) And they meant it!

To this day I am still very, very punctual. :D

  7. Another parenting question!

Same answer: same as rules you normally have for your child when going to things such as camping trips, land vacations, malls, parks, neighborhood, etc...

What works for 1 may not work for another.

Growing up I remember being able to "roam" with my siblings when I was about 8(oldest sibling was 11), and later being allowed to "roam" with friends at age 9. Began roaming on my own about age 11.

My child is just a pre-schooler, so I haven't put much thought into it.

It will depend on where we are going, who else is there and his maturity level. I'd guess somewhere between the ages of 9-11.

  8. Don't know the exact time we boarded, but we left out of Long Beach and arrived about 9AM. It took about 1 minute to check in and we got a boarding pass for zone 1.

They said we had a lot of time so we went to look around the Hotel Maya and then the Queen Mary, after several hours returning to the dock to see if they were calling zones yet.

They were on zone 9!

    We got right in.

  9. I'd pick Epic, but only because I've never been on it.

However in looking at the figures you posted it seems you would lose $100 obc, $50 fttf, as well as any cost for canceling? Also you may have to pay more to upgrade to a different cabin on Epic? Depending on your financial situation, it could be a bit pricier to change.

Just go and enjoy your cruise. When you return, you and your friends can have a photo viewing, story swapping party. Then plan another cruise together!

  10. We did. Don't regret it. Didn't hurt them at school at all. Wonderful family memories. Couldn't afford to take 6 kids in Summer. Family First!

Ditto, family first. After all you are your child's primary teacher.

The only concern I would have is when my kids are high school or college students. At that point missing class could hurt their graduation requirements or get them benched on sports teams. If your kids are that age, be sure they even want to miss school for a vacation.
