  1. I will be interested to hear from cruisers who embark/disembark from the Pan American pier, which is not near the Old Town area where the protests are being staged.   From what I am seeing on TV coverage it is very focused protests.   Since we have until November to have this resolved I am not concerned.   We are staying closer to the airport when we arrive and will taxi directly to the pier.

  2. Someone who took the Adventure of the Seas cruise on 10/7 reported that there were plenty of cabs available at the airport. Keep an eye on the roll call for 10/14 AOS sailing and that may help alleviate any concerns. I know I will be watching for reports. There is one so far and they reported using a cab from the airport.

  3. Agreed on patience. Obviously they would not want to pull the revenue dollars out of Puerto Rico at this critical time. I would have to imagine it would be daunting to try and reschedule to embark from an alternative port and work out the logistics for which ports could be reached and have available docks. I am sure they are trying to gauge if hotels will be up and running first week of November for our departure. The thing that worries me most and has been mentioned is OK the airport may be open, hotels may be open, will there be transportation available to handle the influx of people. So many factors out of their control and have to make a decision about the welfare of of their guests.

  4. Carnival has issues with their terminal in San Juan which is more related to their delay. In addition the ship sailing out of San Juan is replacing a ship in FL that could not have its refurb finished due to Maria for a couple of weeks until repairs can be made in San Juan

Due to Hurricane Maria, the San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino is not taking any new reservations at this time. We are currently assessing the damage and will provide updates as they are available. The safety of our guests and associates is always a top priority and there are no reported injuries at this time. We are waiving cancellation and change fees for specific arrival dates and suggest our customers call 1-800-228-9290 for more information about their reservations. Those in countries outside of the United States seeking information about their reservations should call the Marriott toll-free number in their country. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this storm.

Marriott International has established a resource line for those looking for information about guests and associates who may have been impacted by the hurricane. The number is (866) 211-4610. For those calling outside the U.S. and Canada, the number is +1 402-390-3265. The resource line is staffed from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (ET).

  6. You definitely want to look for Meclizine in the active ingredients. Bonine and Dramamine Less Drowsy are brand names. We have found the key to start taking the product 24 hours before cruise starts. Also if you have never taken I suggest trying a test run well before the cruise to see if it causes you any side effects.

  7. While it is fun to jump off the boat and swim into shore (hence Soggy Dollars) they also run a small launch from the Rebel Yell into shore for those who may not be comfortable swimming into shore. Literally step down into launch and out when you reach shore. They also bring over your towels etc that you don't want to jump into the water with as well.

  8. Definitely worth it. We went while on a Celebrity cruise, but I am sure it is the same excursion people. They drop you off right at the beach. I would research other options but I think those are a ferry to JVD and then a cab over to white beach. Have to adhere to ferry schedules. Now if you could find a private charter for the day for $500 I would do that.
