  1. I have not cruised with P&O before, going on my first one soon. Can someone tell me about the discount on drinks.

    Thank you.

It's a bit like points make prizes, each cruise you take you are given points which are added to your Portunas club account. The club works in tiers with the first tier you get 5% discount off drinks etc, this goes upto 10% with little extras, the more you cruise. But this only starts when you have used any onboard credit you have.

As this is your first cruise with pando you will not be eligable for Portunas discounts.

If you look on the pando site it should explain it in more detail.

    Hope this helps

  2. When we have travelled with Thompson and Thomas Cook they have weighed the hand luggage and have been quite strict with the weight. We were 1kg over once and had to take a pair of trainers out and put them in the checked in luggage.

I think it is a safety issue with the hand luggage being in the overhead lockers.

I have since bought a lightweight carry on case from Matalan:)

  3. We have docked in Roeau just opposite the town on previous cruises but this month we were a good 20 minute walk from the town which a number of passengers were unhappy with as it was a long walk in the heat. Personally unless you are on an excursion I wouldn't bother getting off. But that's just my opinion.

We also have docked at both ports with the Azura. The first time we were about a mile from the town but it seemed more with the heat.

There is not a lot to see in Roseau, it is very run down and not a lot in the way of cafes etc to sit and have a drink.

When we go next February we are going to book a trip with Bumpiing tours to the emerald pool and possibly the Carib indian reservation. Unless you are into nature/hiking there is not a lot to do. Although there is a bit of a market near the port in Roseau.

A little tip is to take an umbrella/waterproof as they do seem to get quite a bit of rain.

  4. Just returned on Thomson flight TOM 815 being 8 hours from Barbados and even though there were films etc on the seat back screens we couldnt hear them as no earphones supplied which I thought was poor especially on long haul.So no point in watching .The films appeared old anyway.

Did they not give any out on the outbound flight? When we have flown with charter flights they usually do and you have to keep them for coming home.

  5. The last time we cruised in 2012, tipping was voluntary but we tipped in line with freedom dining which I think was £3.50 per day per passenger, with extra tips for waiters etc, which we shared between our cabin steward and our waiters (we were on club dining).

What I found extremely embarassing and frankly quite disgusting were the number of empty tables on the last night at dinner. We were on a table of 8 and on the last night there was only our party of 4!!

All of the people who strive to make our holidays a little bit special deserve a tip in recognisation.

As was said before, if people can afford to pay for a cruise be it in a suite or an inside cabin, they can surely factor in around £100 for this.
