Yes, as @delmom18 and @NRWPA said, the attendant has a special key to lock and unlock the connecting door and they are the only ones who can do it. Also, the interior door only swings one direction. We were on what we considered the "wrong" side of the door the last time we had a connecting room with our kids - the door went into their room so they could have manually blocked it from opening, but we could not. Perhaps a large door stop or some other gadget could help fake lock the door from the side it swings in to.

    Ok that makes sense

You can still close the door the between the rooms but just not lock it then it sounds

My last cruise I was in a connecting balcony but not with anyone I was cruising with. The outside balcony door between cabins was still unlocked when I checked in. The cabin steward used a special tool to lock it. Since housekeeping is only once a day unless in a suite, I'm not sure your steward would want to open it every morning and lock it every night. You can of course lock your sliding glass door to the balcony. It appeared the connecting door inside the cabin was locked or unlocked with an actual key. YMMV

So u need a special key to lock the door in a balcony room

Both the interior door and the balcony connecting door have to be unlocked by housekeeping however the interior connecting door also has a deadbolt to use if you don't want that door open at some point.   The room balcony doors have a curtain so if you're concerned about family members from the connecting balcony room peering in at night, the curtain will block that while still allowing daytime access.   In our case, we simply have the connecting doors unlocked at the beginning of the cruise and then knock on the interior doors if it's closed.  (each room has a separate door on the ships I've been on).

We have a balcony  I’m guessing we can just lock and unlock the door as we please then

  4. Hi

I booked the utopia of the seas I’m going with my wife, kids and mother in law

we have a connecting room on deck 12 aft

I wanted midship but it’s not available and just wanted advice if u would stay put or go to another deck. Front and aft is available on most decks I think.

I think 12 aft is right by the Italian restaurant, would u stay put or is there a deck or would move to or front or aft that u think would be more suitable for noise, kids clubs, movement etc.

I’m guessing with these connecting rooms u can lock the door and balcony’s on them to make it private at night.

they seem to go fast I’m booking for end of next year  and all

Symphony would be back in FL at that point, with Odyssey doing the Cape Liberty winter. Allure would also have returned (refurbished) from her summer in the Med. With Utopia doing the shorts (possibly with Wonder), would believe these two will be doing 7-nighters.

Seems to me these would open this week or next.

So u think the symphony or allure might go from PC in winter 2025

  6. Hi

im looking to book a cruise from Orlando in November 2025

the star of the seas seems to be excluded from kids go free offers then and it’s way out of budget with out that

The only other cruise I see is adventure of the seas which doesn’t really appeal

does anyone know if any other cruise ships might be added to go in November 2025 from port Canaveral, or does anyone know if mybe wonder off the seas will be added soon?

also do you think any kids go free offers or think prices will come down for star off the seas, we are going with my mother in law and a room for her is the same price as the room for the 4 off us

Thanks in advance for any help

  7. Hey

so I was looking up prices to sail on royal for me, my wife and three year old twin girls.

We have been quite enjoying sailing with Disney cruise Line recently but I thought of trying to add in a royal cruise next year, thinking it could be like half the price, a wee extra trip. I haven’t looked at royals prices for mybe about a year but WOW the prices have rocketed

I was looking and all months for the wonder next year and even with kids sailing for £99 it’s still really costly. I have looked up all different months and I’m very flexible. I always thought Disney were about double the price of royal. Now there is barley anything in it. In fact I normally get the three night dining package as don’t want to eat in the same restaurant each night and I would need a soda package as Disney normally has that in it. If I take that into it I would say some of there cruises are working out more expensive

even a 2 night cruise from Southampton next year is like £2000 pounds, not that I would do one that short

I know prices have went up with all companies but WOW I was really shocked with how much by

Is anyone else experiencing this or am I missing something?

The days of getting a good deal on royal seem to have gone 🙁

This is what they are showing for my 12/10 Oasis cruiseIMG_9754.thumb.png.1999b0432043c6abbad4a611cf868402.pngNo other over the water cabana options have been offered for this cruise since I booked it at beginning of April. That’s not to say they weren’t offered before I booked the cruise.

    Omg that’s crazy money

I was tempted at 1800 but that’s crazy

  9. Hi

We are playing a 7 night cruise in November (not thanksgiving week) or first week of December and we are thinking of booking the overwater cabana at perfect day and was wondering if anyone has a booking around that time if you could tell me what the prices are now for it. So we have a rough idea what there changing at that time of year

Also do they normally sell out quickly? Or is there a best time to book it for the best price?

Also how good are they, is it worth the extra cost or would you not bother as there is so much else to see. It would be myself, my wife, mother in law and our 4 year old twin girls that would be travelling

    thanks for any help 🙂
