Android. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Now can't login. Anyone call to complain?

This happened to me. I called and asked and they told me that if it still doesn't work after midnight to call back. Just tried it. It is 2am and still doesn't work. Guess I will try to call back later this morning to make sure they know about it.

I just checked the Trenitalia site out of curiosity, putting in some random dates, and got the same results as you reported. Very odd--I might be wrong, but I would assume it's a temporary glitch. One hopes the problem will be corrected in a day or two.  (Or maybe not?...) I used the Trenitalia website extensively for train journeys in Italy this past spring and never encountered this problem.

Edit:  I just checked random dates for this route on thetrainline.com website, and found plenty of morning trains, just as you did on the Omio site.

As I general rule, it's almost always best (and least expensive) to purchase train tickets directly from the particular train operator's own website (in Italy, Trenitalia or Italo) rather than from a third-party booking site.  In a couple of rare instances, however, I have used the Trainline website without any difficulty either on the purchase end or the rail journey itself.  Your mileage may vary, as they say.

So I went back to the site too and I kept scrolling and it showed the train schedule for the next day. So let's say I wanted a ticket for Saturday morning, I would have to put in Friday as my day of travel and it gives me times starting around 2 something in the afternoon. If you keep scrolling, it has the times for Saturday mornings. There is a warning that comes up saying these times are for the next day. Very strange, but at least I figured out how to find them if this isn't a temporary glitch.

  3. And on this trenitalia site I will be able to buy tickets for both legs of my travel. On the fast train and the regional? I don't want to have to worry if there will be tickets available on the day of, so I want to buy the full journey ahead of time.

You should always buy train tickets from the actual service provider, in this case Trenitalia. There is a button in the top right to change to English.

As long as you know when you'll be able to make the train, buying in advance isn't a bad idea and sometimes results in savings on the ticket price. Just realize that if you don't make the scheduled train, there is no refund and no 'allowance' to use the ticket on a later departure. (This is for the high speed train portion of the trip, from Santa Lucia in Venice to Bologna where you'll have to change trains to a regional line.)

I tried to look at the main site and it wasn't very user friendly. I know they don't have the schedule out for next year, but when I put in a date for a couple months out, it only listed trains for the afternoon. Nothing in the morning. Maybe I did it wrong but I was confused. Omio shows plenty of trains starting around 6am

  5. I'm cruising out of Ravenna next year. I'll fly into Venice and spend a couple of days there. I want to take the train to Ravenna the day of the cruise. Is it best to buy train tickets early? Also, is Omio a good site to buy them from? If not, what site is best to buy a train ticket from Santa Lucia Station in Venice to the station in Ravenna?

  6. I'm taking a Cruise next year on RC and 1 of the stops is Athens. One of the ship's excursions is athens attraction pass with Acropolis and Parthenon preferred entrance. It includes the hop on hop off bus that will be available from the cruise terminal in Piraeus. It is a litte over $100. The Athens city pass (which is not throught the ship) is only around 61 euros and it says it includes the hop on hop off bus. But I don't know if it starts from the cruise terminal. And I don't know if the city pass has preferred entrance. Does anyone know if there's a difference in the two? I would rather save money if it's the exact same.

Well, I can't necessarily say what's "best", but I would say that taking the shuttle offered by the cruise line is probably the easiest and most dependable option at this point for those arriving at Ravenna train station looking to get to the cruise port.

Thanks! I didn't realize royal caribbean had a shuttle until after I asked this and then did a little more research through some other threads.

Celebrity has been offering a shuttle from the rail station to the ship, as far as I know. (I sailed on Celebrity from Ravenna last October). The pick-up place is not right in front of the rail station, but recent reports indicate that Celebrity has had someone in the station helping passengers locate the shuttle.

Unfortunately Ravenna is a small city and until recently only had a few taxis. I suspect that may be changing now that it has become the de facto embarkation for Celebrity and Royal Caribbean ships which previously used Venice. However, you can't count on them being available when you arrive.

The ride from the train station to the port takes about 20 minutes by bus or car.

I am cruising with Royal Caribbean next May. So as of now, in your opinion, the best option is to take the bus from the train station to the port?

Pleased to see the new policy. We're due to sail on Rhapsody out of Venice on 23rd May. I'm guessing there may well be a chance this will be cancelled/changed given the situation in Italy. I stand to lose our flights/hotel money which remains non-refundable if so (we have insurance but technically travel to Italy isn't against UK government advice - yet).

Anyone hazard a guess as to when Royal might update on plans with Europe itineraries, particularly those involving Venice (Rhapsody, Explorer, Jewel I think)?

It seems the Costa Luminosa are leaving Canadian/US citizens in France after the transatlantic from FLL to Venice??

I'm wondering the same. I'm on the cruise a week before you. I'm from the US and right now it seems we can change our flights with no penalty if RC decides to leave out of another port. I just wish we could go ahead and find out. Last minute changes are going to be very stressful.

I wouldn’t assume this.  I’ve also noticed that canceled cruises out of Asia the cruise lines are being less generous with compensation as well.

Depending on how fast this spreads now it’s only a matter of time where containment becomes to difficult and we’ll have to cope with it as is.   Look at Europe numbers in multiple countries are climbing fast.  Here’s a good site to see the reported numbers https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

I understand that it is spreading fast. What are your suggestions? If I cancel now I will lose everything except 50% of my cruise payment. If I wait there is a chance I can recover everything or at least get credit for another time. Right now RC is denying boarding for people who have been to the Veneto area. That will be everyone who tries to get on this ship in May if they don't reverse that. They are offering full refunds for those people who are cruising now. The airlines are offering no change fees for flights there in March, so I would hope they would continue if it lasts through May.

If you are flying to/from Venice, then getting a flight might be the bigger obstacle.  Several airlines are not flying into Milan.  Venice may not be far behind.

I know. I'm assuming if the airlines won't fly there then RC will cancel because a lot of people will be flying in for it. I guess we could fly in from somewhere else in and take a train if it comes down to it.

  12. My cruise is supposed to start May 16 out of Venice to Greece. I'm not going to cancel it. I'm going to be really bummed if RC cancels because it is for our 40th birthday celebration. I've been planning and obsessing about it for almost a year, but I don't want them to put us and others in danger either. It's a bad situation for eveyone right now.

  13. I'm booked for a cruise out of Venice to the Greek Isles in mid May. It's already past final payment and I've already bought plane tickets. We are planning to spend 2 days in Venice before the cruise. If they aren't allowing anybody who's been to Venice 15 days before the cruise, I assume they will have to cancel the cruise, since everyone would have to be in Venice to get on the ship.

If it cancels, I hope they will refund my money. Does anyone know if American will refund a nonrefundable plane ticket if something like this happens? I plan to call them soon to see what they say.

I just hope it goes away before then and they release Italy from their ban.

  14. Can you please tell me about your stay at H10 Casa Mimosa? We are thinking of staying there and can't find very many reviews. thanks

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Mimosa. It is very clean and the staff were very friendly. They all spoke English well. If you become a club member on their website you get 5% off your stay.

When we arrived someone labeled our luggage and put it in a locked room. They gave us a map of the city and we were on our way. When we returned, someone insisted on bringing our luggage up to our room for us. The room was small but very clean and new. We had complimentary bottles of water and sangria in our room along with a toiletry kit for our use. We had a nice little balcony too. There was a rooftop pool and bar that had a nice view of the roof on La Pedrera.

There was a restuarant, but it was quite expensive. However there was a nice little bakery/deli next door that was very affordable. We ate there for dinner and breakfast.

They scheduled a taxi for us the next morning to take us to our cruise ship. I would stay there again. They had great customer service.

  15. This will be my first trip to Europe. I'm going on a Carnival cruise out of Barcelona in April. We will be arriving at 7:15am on Saturday, the day before the cruise. I didn't know how long it would take to get out of the airport and to our hotel. We are staying at the H10 Casa Mimosa, which is near La Pedrera. I have written them and they will hold our luggage if we are not able to check in that early. I have decided that I want to go to Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. I went ahead and bought tickets for Sagrada Familia online for 12:00. I thought that would give us plenty of time to get there. Afterwards, I would like to go straight to Park Guell. I want to buy advanced tickets to tour the Monumental Zone.

Their website says the Nature Square is being renovated. Are their still plenty of things to see that would make the ticket worth it?

Also, if we tour the Sagrada Familia at noon, what would be the best time to buy tickets for Park Guell? Is 4 a good time? Earlier or later?

Thanks for any suggestions. We will most likely use a taxi to get to the hotel. We plan to use the Metro to Sagrada Familia as there is a stop close to our hotel, but would welcome suggestions if there is a better form of transportation to get to these places. I believe we will also have to take a bus to Park Guell from the Metro station.

  16. I went to Balmoral Island with Carnival. I did not book anything except the beach day. They had a gate and fence separating the plain beach from the dolphins. I was watching them at the fence and 1 of the employees told me I could come through the gate and watch from the beach. I don't think you can go close up to watch, but I was still able to see the dolphins and the people in the water.

  17. I have a question about how strict the weight limit for this excursion is enforced. On the Royal Caribbean site it says there is a max weight limit of 250lbs, but on the Carnival site there isn't a weight limit listed. I am currently at 300lbs but I am very active and a strong swimmer so I know I won't have any issue keeping up on this excursion. I just don't want to pay for the excursion and get there and then be turned away and lose my money. Thanks in advance!

They didn't weigh us when we went or ask us what we weighed. We did it through Carnival. I don't really see why weight would be a factor for this excursion.
