  1. Dot, I had heard about Harry's passing and want to pass along my condolences. He was a wonderful, friendly man! I'm glad you are still cruising and hope the memorial service and ash scattering go well for you. Your Legend friends (2012) still mention you from time to time. We are on the "friends of cruise critic" section now, at the very bottom of the list if you want to pop in and say hello.

All the best to you, Dot.

    Flo

Flo, what nice memories I have of you thanks for your thoughts

  2. I guess I should have explained better. This is a family cruise to celebrate my husbands life and give him a burial at sea (He was a ww2 sea going Marine and wished to have a burial at sea; we had over 70 cruises)

One of my daughters and I both won a free cruise. So when we booked we had to book separate cabins. My other daughter and her husband are each listed with one of the free cabins. So we want to trade so they can be in the same cabin.

We have other family members in nearby cabins also and nobody has Cheers.

    thanks for your responses

    regards Dot

  3. Do you mean you are changing cabins or changing the people in each cabin?

If you are changing cabins how do you know there will still be cabins available on your sailing to change to? If you are switching the people in each cabin just go to guest services when you board and they will take care of it.

Sorry for the confusion; we are changing people in the cabin

thanks for your answer I am thick that sounds like the best idea

    thanks again

  4. I still have that picture; you have good memory

    dotheyes,

I STILL HAVE THAT PICTURE you have good memory

I've been following Brianna's Vista review and am just going to the last page to follow along. I could not help but noticed your post. I remember you from when I did my first Carnival Liberty review in 2014 when we sailed out of Miami. We started "talking" about the picture that I was able to get of most of Washington, DC, from the plane on our trip down to Miami and you told me that you were originally from the area and that you could see the area you lived in one of the pictures.

I just want to let you know how very sorry I am to hear that you recently lost your husband and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Brianna, sorry for the hijack and I'm really enjoying your review and pictures. I already love Vista and would love to cruise on her.

  5. Good memory. I did indeed move to Florida. I live in Davenport and I am working in Orlando. I love it

Ilove reading your reviews. I too live in Davenport FL Have talked to you many times and now we are neighbors.

It has been a long time since we talked so you probably don't remember me.

Sadly, I am a recent widow and very lonely. We plan a burial at sea in Oct. for my husband. We did over 70 cruises and he wanted to be buried at sea He was a WW2 sea going American Indian proud Marine.

    thanks for the great review

  6. Hello all ~ I just returned from a carnival pride cruise ~ spent a little too much in the casino and lost :( ~ however, ended up receiving a casino offer that is a free interior for 2 , except taxes and port fees I would pay.

I am taking them up on the offer and they suggested the vacation protection in case i had to cancel (free offers have a rigid penalty of having to pay to value of a cruise if you should cancel)

With that said, carnival insurance is more expensive.

If anybody has experienced this before ~ do you think using an outside insurance company like travelex or insuremytrip would protect us in the event we had to cancel. I dont anticipate it, but you never know.

Should I just get the carnival protection plan, or an outside one??

    Any opinions/advice is appreciated.Thanks!

Since it is a free cruise you probably will only pay the lowest price of $49 per person for insurance. That is what we had to pay (2 times) dot

  7. 49 cruises with Carnival, and we choose the Sunshine for our Milestone 50th cruise. We have been on her 3 times and she is our favorite.

I don't get around fast any more, but if you have a cabin near the aft elevators we can get to everything we want to. The Ocean Plaza is wonderful for trivia and music. The Havana bar is great for live music in the evenings (just get on elevator and go to deck 9) same with the dining room. then can go to mid ship and get a Guys burger ummm

Jamie Dee is the absolute best CD and I could go on and on

  8. we just booked the cruise and there is still an option to change cabins

The worst thing is we were just on this same cruise in February and neither

of us can remember which side the ports were on. Old age is terrible but it beats the alternative

byw this will probably be our last cruise. Number 50 on Carnival

There is no set way for docking. The captain docks however the circumstances warrant on any given day (I imagine currents/tides/winds make a difference).

I was on a B2B that stopped in Nassau both legs. One leg we pulled in; next leg he turned her around and backed in at the same pier on the same side both times.

Don't think there's any way to know. I wouldn't book a cabin based on expecting to be facing the port.

  9. our fav is the Sunshine

    The Havana Bar is great\

    Ocean Plaza is great

the two dinner venues are wonderful JI JI and Capataino

They cost $15 pp but are well worth it.

The CD is the absolute best Jamie Dee

The taste bar has continental breakfast every day and not crowded
