It would be far easier to take public transportation if you were flying into JFK instead of LGA. There is a direct rail link, called AirTrain, to the LIRR and NYC Subway from JFK. From LGA you could possibly take a taxi to the Woodside LIRR station and take the train to Penn and connect to a NJT train to Secaucus Junction. Walking anywhere from the station at Secaucus Junction may also be problematic as there may or may not be sidewalks.

Except for the western Aleutian Islands, Alaska is one hour behind Pacific time and it does have daylight savings time. So if the time is 10:00 AM in New York and 7:00 AM in Los Angeles, it would be 6:00 AM in Alaska. While in Alaska the ship's time will be the same as Alaska's time.

The prices are up now for the Freedom, Serenade, Oasis and Allure.

Do you remember which other ship was with you at Coco Cay? Was it Enchantment? I think she is scheduled to be at Coco Cay when we are there on Grandeur. Nice to hear that the island was not too crowded.
Love the idea of a chili cook off and BBQ on the pool deck. I don't think either was done last time we were on Grandeur. Sounds like fun.
Thanks for the review - we are doing same itinerary next fall.

I was on this cruise also. It was the Enchantment that was with us at Coco Cay. That ship seemed to have a lot of Spring Breakers aboard.
To add a little about the seas we went through, we were mostly sailing into the waves so that the pitch was far wore noticeable than the roll. It was especially interesting up in the Windjammer on deck 9 looking forward. At times I would check our speed on the TV and during the worst of it we were down to 5 knots. I think there were times after plowing through a wave we were almost stationary. That all said, we only ended up a couple of hours late back in Baltimore.
I also have noticed another thing about going out of Baltimore, both on the Enchantment and now the Grandeur. There are a large number of people who do the self assist departure. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say a quarter to a third of the passengers going off both deck 4 and deck 1.
-
Self assist departure started around 9:30 and since we did Immigration in Key West it was much faster just handing in the Customs form. As long as they can get provisioning and bunkering completed I doubt the ship will sail too much later than expected today.

You can tell who is sober and who is drunk. The sober ones are the ones staggering about, the drunk ones are those who are walking straight.
-
Official word is we are due to arrive in Baltimore at 10 AM. It's still bumpy but nowhere as bad as this morning. To those sailing tomorrow I hope this system passes before you get here.
-
On board now, seas were 20 to 30 foot, sometimes higher. Speeds were as low as 5 knots, but are now doing 18+. Captain said this morning they expect to be 4 to 5 hours late, haven't heard any updated ETA yet. Seas look to be down to 10 to 15 now.

BTW, that cabin has one of the smallest balconies imaginable. As the diagram shows, it is basically triangular and barely hold a single chair and a small table.

I am fortunate in that I reached the 340 point number before they changed the single supplement policy. For me it works out since I never sail in July or August and rarely at the holidays. The only thing I wish is that their booking engine was smart enough to apply the discount automatically rather than my having to call C&A and then having the rep have to have a supervisor apply the discount.

The White Witch
Agreed, The White Witch. I booked it through the ship off the Allure but the course certainly wasn't very busy, at least it wasn't in April of 2012. I say that because you could probably book it yourself and take a taxi there.

If a ship needs to die, better to die in her own element. Better to be sunk as an artificial reef than to end up as razor blades.

When the engineers were designing the Solarium they were probably worried about there being too much wind as it is located forward on the upper decks. I think they did too good a job limiting the wind to where there is almost none at all. When I went there I usually settled on the uppermost deck (same as the bar:)) and sat in the standard cushioned seats (not loungers) in the shade where there was some breeze.

Upgraded on the Allure from an inside to a Central Park balcony. My other two were one step up, inside to outside and balcony to JS. I believe they were all D+ upgrades, one of the benefits of not sailing during peak seasons.

To the OP, I'm booked on the same itinerary a few weeks prior to yours. You'll be cruising Tracy Arm Fjord on day five. On day three you'll be in the Inside Passage arriving in Juneau at noon. I believe this route sails outside of Vancouver Island after leaving Seattle and takes most of two days before arriving in Juneau. The ship leaves Juneau at 9 PM to head to Skagway. After leaving Skagway you basically have two sea days, the morning of one of them being spent in Tracy Arm Fjord. In total, if you don't count the night times, you'll have 3 1/2 sea days.

Earl Scheib had a special on light blue paint. (I'll paint any ship for $8900.95.):)

While your D+ status does convert to Elite it is not automatic. You will need to call Celebrity and enroll in the Captain's Club. Tell the representative that you are D+ and give him/her your C&A number. You will be given a Captain's Club number and will be at Elite level.

I remember seeing a thread a while ago where the OP said they docked at the naval base because another ship was docked in town. In that case there was a trolley that took passengers to/from the ship and town, and in such case would be free, it was also the only option since it went through restricted areas. I believe a ship would only dock there if more than one ship is at Key West.

Definitely. They should allow you to change flights with no fees since they changed flight times.
They should also let you cancel the flight with a refund in case you find another carrier with a better time. I recently cancelled my AA flight with a full refund and booked on another carrier when AA changed my flight.

I really don't like that Celebrity seems to be turning Michael's their version of the Concierge Lounge, unless it's only exclusive for the evening social hours. On my last cruise on the Millennium I was in Michael's almost every night listening to good music while drinking good beer. There wasn't really any other venue that compared.

My first, too. September 1994, 7 night to Bermuda from New York. It took another seven years for me to cruise again but after that I was hooked.

I called the C&A D+ line about a month ago to get my 150% single supplement and balcony discounts applied. The agent on the phone was able to apply the balcony discounts right away but had to have a supervisor apply the 150% discount. Both were applied within a half hour, so it seems that some RCI staff know what they are doing. BTW, when I reached 340 points I emailed C&A to ask that the 150% discount and the balcony discount were combinable and the reply I received said they were.
Question (maybe problem) re double points for solo cabins

The first time I was eligible for double points I had to email C&A to get it fixed. The next time, just a couple of weeks ago, I got them automatically.
