    Southampton to Zeebrugge

    Hi

I stumbled on this thread looking for a little help with embarkation time.

I think this may be the 17 November sailin which I too am booked on. I have just looked at my e ticket, it states a boarding time of 15.30, which seems quite late to me, my question is how rigidly do people stick to this.

Although I have a few cruises under my belt mainly with Celebrity. This will be my first taster of Cunard so would welcome any advice out there.

    Thank you

    Ann

  2. Photos from today look amazing.

I did similar tour with X some years ago and saw only a fraction of your day, wish I had known Spain Day Tours then.

So enjoying following along on your travels, never thought if a TA but this itinerary has made me think.

I have a question re Infinity, I was last on Infinity in 2013, shortly after a refit but the general appearance was still not that great and seemed quite dark and shabby in many areas, can I ask what you think some 6 years later?

Tomorrow we have a Cruise Critic arranged shore excursion of Lisbon, Sinatra and Estoril via SPAIN Day Tours.

We will be meeting outside the port entrance at 7:45-7:59 for an 8:00am tour.

I have used Spain Day Tours and can recommend. Not for Lisbon but Seville x Cadiź, which was an excellent day. Sintra is lovely too.

Madeira  is the most beautiful of Islands in the area. Full of colour and lovely walks., lucky enough to spend a week in a Quinta perched on the hill overlooking the harbour.

You have been so lucky with the weather. I think Silhoutte had a difficult time last week.

    Enjoy Lisbon

  4. Equinox is my favourite X ship, so good choice, you will love it. Also highly recommend Murano and would be a good choice for your wife's special birthday, make sure X are aware of the birthday.

Last September I was lucky to take my 4th Cruise on Equinox and 1st Caribbean. I flew in direct to Miami, had 3 nights there pre cruise. For ease I spent the 1st night at an airport hotel which had free airport shuttle. Transferred via taxi to a Mid Miami beach hotel for the next 2 nights. Mid beach was fine for me as it was not too busy. As someone else said there is a free trolley bus service that runs all the way up the beach and a lovely broadwalk. The hotel booked me a day tour, which took in bus tour then boat trip, I thought it was  excellent value for money, although personally I didn't like bayside. Just keep in mind Miami is not cheap and everything incurs an additional tax.

As my flight home was not until 18.30, I took a ship excursion at the end of the cruise the Everglades tour, which worked well.

Like you being from UK and not sure I would ever returnbe I wanted to experience Miami and loved it!!!! , I am female and travel on my own and at no point did I feel at all ill at ease, found everyone super helpful.

The only thing I would not recommended was the shopping mall, I don't want to offend anyone, but I had high expectations and what I found was not very good quality and pricey, perhaps its just me (I work in textiles).

I would recommend you join the roll call for your cruise, often lots of helpful tips.

    Hope this helps.

Another interesting tid bit, which I find hard to believe.  This will be Infinty’s first time to Europe since being built.   Wonder if anyone can confirm.

Sorry to correct, but who ever told you this but not true.

I did an "Immersive Wine Cruise" out of Harwich. UK in 2013 and certainly was not a new ship then. I think Infinity also sailed out of UK the year before as well.

Since Celebrity is now loading the 3 drinks on our Sea Pass cards to have at most other bars/lounges we'd like to see the CC HH drinks loaded on our Sea Pass cards for every evening.

My understanding is that drinks are now unlmited at most bars between 5 - 7pm as per the elite menu. Apart  from 1st night and Senior Officers event

it is not and it was not.

Everything is for sale at the right price.

I think we all new that M class ships would be moved on some time when most of the edge class are opetational, past history tells us that.

My bet is that they will be moved within the RC family.

Sorry I missed you at the  Ensemble Lounge last night after dinner, Charla.

I walked thru, didn’t see you and decided I’d been solo in public for too long.

My experience in main dining as a solo cruiser was tasty, but uncomfortable. Although I was at a table for 8 - it was a table for 1. No one else arrived at the table. Dinner (Crab Louie and perfectly cooked prime rib)  was great, and my Kindle was excellent company.

I had checked with the matre d prior to sail away regarding location and size of table (my request was a table for 10)  and had been assured I wouldn’t be alone.  (Yes, I was skeptible  but optimistic)

After my solo dinner the maitre d assured me he would work on moving me. . .  but I haven’t heard from him yet.

It’s quite a different mindset experience when you know you will be alone (at a small table) versus being seated in a huge venue at a large  table by yourself.

Fortunately the sommelier kept my glass full!

    Remaining optomistic for tonight!

I am sorry to hear this.

Have never found this myself, but always do select dining and just ask for a sharing table. First night there are a couple of reasons people don't turn up to set dining tables. Tierd from travelling and doing room service/buffet, also speciality restaurants do special offers on first night.

Fingers crossed this evening goes better for you.

Correct, if it’s an onboard booking. Then you have to pay the new deposits on the new cheaper reservation too.

Have never been asked to pay any additional deposit, just the reduced deposit carried over to new booking together with my OBC perk for on board booking.

Will say my bookings are always left with X have never transfered to travel agent.

Very true but the problem is in the UK we are locked in from the moment of booking even if the cruise is 2 years away if we cancel we loose a lot of money up to $385pp depending on cruise line with full non refundable payment can be 12 weeks before departure again depending on cruie line.

If you book onboard you may change this booking upto final payment with no surcharge . Your deposit moves to new booking. I am in the UK and benefited from this on many occasions.

  11. I  have also found solo cruising on X very easy. Always find crew very attentive and on the whole most fellow cruisers very inclusive.

Usually ask for a large table at dinner as i enjoy chating with others. Would love to enjoy some of the speciality restaurants but not keen to sit alone for dinner, on the one occasion I did agree with snyniew  wait staff spent extra time with me.

Enjoy your cruise, Equinox my fabourite ship and if Captain Kate is aboard, crew levels go up a notch.

BTW dont understand your friend not joining you.

  12. Hi to all we are on the Equinox in three weeks time we are staying in the Marriott.
