  1. Had a slightly similar situation recently. I have an annual policy with staysure. 4 weeks before cruise GP referred me for ultrasound scan and to specialist. 2 weeks before cruise had ultrasound, 10 days before cruise GP rang with results of scan, said I had fibroids, I went online and updated my policy which cost me £1.84 to amend.  After reading all of @Megabear2threads about insurance I started to panic a bit, although my GP effectively told me what was wrong, I still had a referral outstanding, anyway after a few sleepless nights worrying about if anything happened on my cruise, would insurance company use it as an excuse not to pay out for anything, I rang staysure 4 days before we sailed.  I explained the whole story that even though I had effectively had a diagnosis it wasn’t ‘signed off by specialist”   … They were very helpful and told me they would remove the fibroids from my pre existing conditions on policy pending sign off but that they would cover my other pre existing conditions (high Blood pressure being the one I was concerned about cover for).  They said once I had sign off to ring again and add to my conditions, but also as I was due to sail so soon they would cover for fibroids on that one trip. I was petrified that because it wasn’t diagnosed and signed off they would cancel my insurance.  Had a lovely cruise and hopefully will be able to close it all our before my next one 😀

  2. Hi All

We are going on a Fjords cruise shortly and are very lucky to be travelling in a suite.  I have read up on the perks of being in a suite and know we could have breakfast in the Epicurean, however we are travelling with a couple who are not in a suite so will be unlikely to use that perk.  I know that you can order from the main restaurant menu and have it delivered to your suite, my question is would it be possible to have breakfast in the suite with the other couple we are travelling with? Or is strictly for the suite guests only?  It's my birthday the day we sail into Olden and I thought it would be lovely to have breakfast on the balcony as we sail in.

    Thanks in advance :)

Great news... We should have been on the same cruise but cancelled earlier on medical grounds... Still nothing...

    Andy

I don’t think any of us will ever understand the logic of their systems, I fully expected to start chasing them in June. You never know maybe one day when all this madness is over we will see you onboard 😀

  4. So I have followed this thread all the way through, but not posted.

We were due to sail not 19th April on Britannia which was cancelled on 30th March, I filled in the refund form online that day.

I didn’t contact them at all since then.  Low and behold have just checked credit card and refund has arrived today with a posting date of 18 May.  Delighted to get it back.

Hope everyone waiting has a good outcome soon 😀

The concern of many is becoming unfit rather than being unfit the day before the cruise. In my neck of the woods you would be lucky to see your GP within a month. Not exactly throwing goodwill out there is it.

    Absolutely.

I would not be in a position to get a gp letter, my concern is being quarantined for 2 weeks or passing it on to my elderly father on return.  I am 44 days out, so I can cancel by tomorrow and get back 40%.  Or take a chance it might be cancelled and hope to get 100% back. I was hopeful they would follow princess' example, but its looking less likely.

  6. They have just added another paragraph on their website

If you are concerned about travelling within balance due date due to medical reasons, we are now able to look at transferring your booking, if you can provide a letter from a medical practitioner/Doctor on headed paper which confirms that you are unfit to travel on your cruise.

  7. Due to go on Britannia 19 April, have been following forum with interest. Thoughts on whether we go or not have varied day by day, current view was that if it sails we would go. Had upgraded to a suite for hubby birthday, so 2k to lose. Now just read Flybe are due to go belly up so our flights (booked separately) look to be cancelled, at least that will be nearly £500 recovered as paid by credit card. We could drive to Southampton I suppose but selfishly hope that they cancel the cruise.

On Independence in May out of Southampton and Giovanni's was $32pp

We used our D+ BOGO and got $32  for 2 total for night 1 and for night 2.

It was very quiet so we got $32 total for night 3 too.

We only ate the once, in Chops. It was $39 per head, although they were offering a "3 speciality meals for the price of 2" deal, so you could have had Chops, Giovanni's and Izumi for $78, or $26 each.

The filet mignon is as sumptuous as ever.

Thank you both! Seems like prices are similar to cruise planner, so will leave it until we are onboard ... 75 days and counting:)

  9. Always used our barclaycard for onboard account and never had a problem, have never pre-notified them before travel.  I know that the authorisations on the card are generally higher than actual spending but it drops off a few days after cruise ends.

I would be very annoyed if I had pre-paid for the drinks package before the cruise and I wasn’t able to order a drink!

  10. We upgraded to a GS last year on Anthem for very little about a week before sailing and were told we would lose the Select package that had been included, it was only a 3 night sailing so wasn't such a big deal. When we boarded they hadn't removed the package and we were able to just pay to upgrade it to premium. Not saying this will happen to you, maybe we just hit lucky!

We also sailed on a 14 nighter on Explorer last year in a GS, the ship was full and I totally appreciated 2 things. First was use of chops grille for breakfast and also at lunch time you could get your food from windjammer and be seated in chops which meant no constant circling to get a seat. Second was suite sunlounger section, we always got a sunbed. To be honest we didn't use the suite lounge at all, so can't comment on that. Everyone is different but if I was in your position I would be trying to convince hubby to let me upgrade :D

  11. Hi, we are also on this cruise. Have you joined the rollcall? http://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2196625

Lots of others may be able to give you advice on ports. We have booked ships excursion to Rome as it will be so busy, also ships excursion to Florence / Pisa. All the other ports we are just going to do our own thing. Regarding Nice/ monte Carlo, the train station in Ville Franche is very easy to get to so I think it is probably easy to do on your own, if you google tomsportguides you will find lots of useful information.

Not sure about pre-booking the dining package, I think if you do they allocate first restaurant for 1st or 2nd night and then you book the rest on board. On explorer last year they were trying very hard to upsell these packages onboard so you should be able to purchase onboard.

3 weeks to go, getting excited :D

  12. hello

Just back of the navigator sailing from southampthon. The menus were loosely based on those attached but there were quite different in many ways. The classics which are served everyday didn't include the sliders but a different pot pie everyday. There was no tapas or spinach dip ( although on room service menu) , no roman salads or garden salads, no duck or veal. Instead we had Singapore noodle and lots of roast chicken and beef dishes fish and chips . Trifle for dessert.

Lots of other dishes on menu still there, garlic prawns , fruit soup, chicken masala, lasagne, horseradish salmon

    Hi Claire,

Do you know if they had the cheeseboard on the MDR menu still? Was on Harmony recently and was gutted it wasn't on that menu!

And one other question.. did you use the voom internet? Was going to pre-purchase it but reading other reports, seems like it was rubbish, just wondering if it improved

    Thanks Lynn
