On  our British Isles cruise in October and a Caribbean cruise we just finished my wife and I had one credit card listed for payment.  In all our previous cruises they totaled it all up and billed us for anything we owed or sent us a refund.  On the BI cruise I left the ship with a positive $97 balance and DW was a minus $91.  I figured we'd get a check for $6 sometime.  But they immediately charged our card for her $91 and three weeks later sent me a check for my $97.  On the cruise we just finished we received emails saying DW would get check for $6 and my account was sent to billing because I owed $14....

I was surprised earlier this week to receive a check in the mail for the entire amount on DH account not used, both refundable and nonrefundable. Seems Princess accounting is going through changes. I have to applaud Princess for refunding, but that was one action that could have been avoided had they combined on the ship.

If I might ask, was your credit card linked to your husband's OB account as a designated user, or did he have a separate CC assigned to his account? I was always under the assumption the "merging" of accounts was based on one credit card assigned to both accounts.

I "think" we must have had separate cards on file. I updated my account with the new credit card but I think I must have not updated his information. After seeing this I have now deleted the second card to prevent a recurrence. In the past it was in my name and he was a designated user. I can only assume it cost me a few dollars to learn something and be more watchful in the future.

  3. Word of caution:  my DH and I recently traveled on the Island Princess. Normally our accounts are combined, this time they weren't. I didn't think too much of it until I realized they charged the credit card for full outstanding balance on my account and left money in his to be turned over to Corporate Finance. There was $18 refundable and $21 non-refundable, I know they will quickly add both to Princess account. Not that large amount, but it could have been. I'll watch closer next time.

  4. Can anyone give reports of how it is handled at the beginning of a cruisetour (personal experience)? I see the requirements are that it is required before the land first portion but I also have read reports that the hotels do not ask to see results. I'm not against testing,  but dislike paying a lot for a test when hey don't even check. I have free tests here that I can self test before leaving home. And yes, we would definitely self test before leaving home.

    Princess site Update Feb 22:

    Testing

    • Guests on sailings from the United States must provide proof at terminal check-in of a negative viral COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) taken within two days of their embarkation.

So looks like no change in 2-Day requirement.

I cannot determine any changes made to these requirements. I do not have a copy of the information before the change but it seems it is the same as before. Can someone tell me if they recognize the change? Perhaps it was put out to say the current requirements are still in place.

When it requested a password change the other day I also chose to wait. I just tried to log in and got the “locked out” message, and decided to not try anything else.  This is ridiculous!

I received this message an hour or so ago. A different response than what I had been getting. I did the reset password this time and now things are back to normal with my upcoming bookings appearing in a different format. I had not tried resetting my password previously.

  7. Friends of ours finally got their $$ back this weekend from a canceled May 30 cruise. The weird thing to me was that my DH and I received ours over 2 months ago. My thought is that ours was one amount returned to one credit card. Theirs was two credit cards, differing amounts for insurance, and one with a referral reward. She would have been a new cruiser, not sure that will happen after this fiasco.

I would love to be going back. We're booked for Alaska next September but it's a cruise only. If the cruise actually sails we'll get to visit two ports that are new to us - Icy Strait Point and Sitka - but we really do love the land trips. If you like beer there is a great brew pub - 49th State Brewing Company - across the street from the Denali lodge and, in Talkeetna, there is the Denali Brew Pub. I wish our cruise tours had included the catamaran in Prince William Sound to the ship. It sounds much cooler than the bus to Whittier.

I'm guessing you will absolutely love your trip. Enjoy!

That sounds like the one we have booked for next year, the Sapphire on September 15? We've not been on the Sapphire so the ship will be new to us. Icy Strait Point and Sitka were what attracted us to this sailing. Can't wait!

  9. DH and I did the 12 hour excursion to Kennicott Copper Mine. It is a long and bumpy ride there and back. We had a beautiful day (September) and rather warm, although a chilly start. As we were readying to return the van driver informed us the A/C was not working, this was on a dusty bumpy road. This did cause a somewhat bad mood as we returned. There is a nice little restaurant there if you'd like to eat, there were other restaurants at another location but information was readily given. We didn't pay the extra to tour the mine, instead hiked out most of the way to the glacier. We are glad we did it but wouldn't repeat.

We did enjoy our stay at the lodge. We did your tour in reverse. While the day's drive between Denali and Copper River lodges is long we enjoyed it greatly. We did see wildlife. There were three buses traveling that tour (same driver from Valdez to Denali) and I do think we had the best of the three.

I was hoping to book Jayleen's Alaska for this summer's trip but they're already booked. 😞 So we'll consider an offer at the dock for this trip or just go to Mendenhall.

Our family went with Alaska Humpback Adventures https://www.alaskahumpbackadventures.com/ last September. I think this was our favorite family excursion. We loved the small boat, it holds six, our family of five had a private tour for basically the same price as those larger boats with lots more people.

The cruise line is Princess Cruises.

We have a choice in doing a 12 day that has 2 nights in Denali, 2 nights in Mt. McKinley and none is Copper Ridge or

we can do a 13 night, 1 night Copper Ridge 2 nights Denali and 1 night Mt. McKinley.

The 13 night is only $20.00 per person more.

We have been to Alaska 2 times, but have only done the cruise part not any of the land tours.

We want to be able to go fishing at some point inland in Alaska, but we are not sure if Cooper Ridge is a good place to fish we have never been there before.

My thinking is for $20.00 pp more with an extra night and also another city we have never been to this might be the better choice.

If anyone could tell us what there is to do in Cooper Ridge and if we can fish there that would be great...Also if you have to have a fishing license to fish there would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance and have a Blessed day

We did the tour that included all three lodges this past summer. I recommend that tour. But I must warn you, there is a full day on a bus to get from Copper River lodge to Denali lodge. But so worth it, we saw quite a bit of wildlife and scenery we would have missed otherwise. Another warning, a big part of the day is on a gravel road, but found it to be in good shape. We would do it again.

Made final payment on 5/16 and it has been accepted/processed by my credit card company.

Does your online cruise  personalizer show as complete? Mine did even before I made the payment.

My cruise personalizer shows as complete on Princess website, but doesn't reflect that on the Ocean Ready app.

So, I am 82 days out, I am ocean ready with lovely green circles, I live in the United States (and not a rural area) and get this message now:

Your OceanMedallions and accessories will be available at your port of embarkation. Home delivery is not available because either there is insufficient time to deliver the order before your voyage, the voyage has started, or because the carrier cannot deliver to the posted address.

82 days to go so not started and I live near Richmond, Virginia. Amazon finds me more than once a week for deliveries.

    Say WHAT?????

I'm curious if you have made final payment yet. We are 104 days out and all shows green except cruise personalizer. We have completed everything there. I thought perhaps it isn't showing green because final payment hasn't been made yet.

  14. Does anyone know where/ what the Royal Princess will be doing the week of December 1? We cruise the week prior and after reading stories of cruises before/after drydock I started looking. I haven't found anything for the week of December 1 for the Royal. Just wondering if anyone knows what is going on that week.
