  1. I can't believe the (rude) comments I've read on these boards about the new dress code. I wish everyone would just get over it, life's is too short.

I have flip flops very similar to yours and love them. I take them on cruises when traveling to warm climates. I have also worn them to the buffet returning from port and also on sea days.

We travel with another couple and my girlfriend often wears casual flip flops under a long skirt to dinner. You really can't see much of what is on your feet under a long skirt, so if you're worried about it I would pick up some long skirts and casual long dresses.

I have worn heels all my life, and now that I'm in my late 50's my feet are paying the price.

I have found some really cute (inexpensive) "flip flops" at TJ Maxx, Kohls and Target that are very comfortable and dress things up just because they are patent leather or have a few sparkles on them.

Your dresses are really cute and I think a comfortable flip flop that is just a little dressier would really finish your outfit.

    Enjoy your cruise!

Would you wear flip flops to a job interview ? If you answered no, then you would not wear them to a 5 course fine dining restaurant. Have some respect for the cruise line rules and for the people who abide by them.

  2. If the women get away with it next will be the guys demanding the same code. Cruising is going down hill fast, Use to do 4-5 a year and now have only one for his year.

It amazes me when you see a few people show up at the dining room in casual clothes and they think nothing of it. It's like they are oblivious to the people around them. So , you see them on day two in the dining room in jeans , then you think they will get the hint for the next day to dress up. They still don't lol. mind boggling. It kinda ties into the people who hold loungers with a towel. They throw a towel on a lounger at 7 am then Go for b fast then back to the room. By the time they get back its 10:30 11:00 and all the loungers are taken. It's very rude.

How bout the people who insist on jamming 25 people in an elevator ? Ok it stops at every floor. If you see it's full when it opens up , don't try to jam in. I have personal bubble and don't appreciate you breathing your wine breath on me.

That's my rant lol. You know it's all true. :D

  4. Flip flops not allowed even for smart casual wear.

The dress code at Celebrity's Specialty Restaurants is 'Smart Casual and Above' for every night of your cruise. Formal attire is only required in the main dining room on your formal evenings.

    Renting Formalwear

Formal evenings call for formal attire. Men can arrange for tailored, elegant formalwear to be delivered directly to your stateroom. To order, visit Cruiseline Formalwear.

  5. @OP You look fine for the non-smart-chic nights. I have a similar pair with the only difference being a few bits of bling glued to the straps and have had no problems wearing them to dinner. I also wear Birkenstock Gizeh's as they are not only extremely comfortable but not being rubber, are clearly not flip-flops but still are a thong so easy on the ankles.

Is it fine for Men to wear there sandles to the main dining room ?

  6. Dh has always worn his Birkenstocks in the mdr even on the now renamed formal nights. No one said anything and i seriously doubt that anyone will stop you with the flip flops. And really, who sees your feet and who gives a rat's behind about what others think.

Wearing stylish blue jeans is not elegant formalwear and unfortunately people get away with it. On princess they will turn you away at the door if not dressed appropriately. I know on debarkation day I was wearing my base ball cap and we went to the dining room for b fast. They told me to take my hat off. I spoke to the manager and told him they should worry about all the people coming in not sanitizing there hands before worrying about baseball caps on debarkation day. Btw old men were allowed to wear there English fold over hats, so it's age discrimination on who gets to wear a hat or not lol.

  7. As soon as we boarded the Carnival Liberty in March, we were bombarded by people from the spa department. They told us to go to the Spa immediately to enter to win a $500.00 gift certificate for the Spa. So we went and entered. We were told we had to come back at 5:00pm for the draw. (have to be present to win). So there we are, ship is leaving Miami, and my GF and I are jammed pack in the "gym" portion waiting for this "draw" to take place. Must of been 300 people jammed in that space. All of a sudden, we get a lecture on services they offer, and then they do a draw for $50.00. They go on and on and tied up close to an hour drawing $50.00 every 10 min. I WON!!! Go to book our Spa package and use the "$50.00" certificate, and was told it was only good on regular priced spas! LMAO everything was on sale, and if you wanted to use it the spa packages started at $205.00. What a scam! What a way to force you to see what the Spa offers.

Don't waste your time with this "draw" as its bogus.

BTW we never did see a $500.00 winner.........
