Looks like single occupancy cabins.  If I picked one in error, I would really be angry!  However, some people got AQ cabins near the movie screen area and were plagued by the loud movies.  So do not pick a cabin near that terrace area!    Look at deck plans to identify .

We booked Aqua on deck 11, but moved after we came across  posts about the noise from the rooftop terrace movies. Celebrity confirmed they receive complaints about  some of these staterooms.

  2. I’ve “ locked out “ too and have been for the past 24 hours,  although the message states it will only be for 20 minutes to “protect my privacy”.

Not the first time it’s happened, but it comes back online sooner or later. Frustrating though when you are actually trying to do some cruise planning!

  3. There have been several threads recently about the noise from the rooftop movies impacting Aqua cabins deck 11. A number of people reported being hearing the movies while on their balcony and in some instances even inside the cabin.

We changed our cabin on our next sailing as a result moving  to a concierge room at the aft. A very happy outcome.

We contacted customer service at Celebrity and they got back to us with more detail on this excursion.  The write up they have is that the excursion will visit the Cathedrale d'images.  When I googled Cathedrale d'images, I got https://www.myprovence.fr/en/travel-guide/entertainment/cultural-places/les-baux-de-provence/2568-cathedrale-d-images  The write up also described visiting a Van Gogh exhibit, so it sounds like it does go there.  We are supposed to have received an email with the write up, but have not gotten that yet.  I will post it when and if we get it.

That link is definitely to Carrieres de lumineres at Les Baux.

Celebrity’s description is muddled though as it implies the “art gallery” is in a quarry in St Remy. It’s not.

Van Gogh spent many years hospitalised in St Remy. Some of his most famous works were painted looking out at the views from his hospital room. There is a Van Gogh walk from the town centre that takes you to the institution where he stayed. It’s still in use today.

  5. I highly recommend a visit to Carrieres Lumieres. It is a truly unique experience whether you are interested in art or not.

We visited in October last year and really didn’t know what to expect. It’s held in a vast old quarry, underground, with soaring ceilings. Huge images are projected onto the quarry walls, which are irregular in shape and accompanied by a sound track as you walk through the darkened quarry. Surreal.

It’s presented as a show which I think ran for about 30 minutes and is replayed on a loop.

Spectacular is not an exaggeration. Still get goose bumps reminiscing about it. Plenty of other sights in the immediate area too.

  6. We will be celebrating our 40 th wedding anniversary on the Millenium later this year. This will be our first cruise on a M class ship, although we’ve sailed S class several times.

We would like to have a nice dinner on our actual anniversary. Where would you choose? It will be a sea day.

If we were on S class, Murano would have been perfect. Tuscan Grill has been a mixed bag in the past.  We haven’t experienced  Qusine but it doesn’t sound as though  LPC is on Millenium yet. We would really appreciate thoughts on how to celebrate this milestone.

    Thank you.

Your best views will be from one of the upper decks rather than from a stateroom.

For sail away you would be best on the top deck or in an aft cabin. We had an aft sky suite  which had a fantastic view.

Solstice usually berths at Circular Quay with the aft facing out and parallel to the Sydney Harbour bridge. On departure, a stateroom on the starboard side would give you views of the city, Opera House and Botanic Gardens as you leave. Port side would give you great views of the Opera House and city, but only while the ship is berthed.

The OP said they were in a C2, not a C1 aft facing cabin. Are you now saying that all the C1s on M class are being re-categorised too because of the disastrous new Aqua cabins ? If so, what a complete mess X have made of this Revolution!

Starting to sound like it. Take a look at post #458 on the M class cabin information thread at the top of the main menu. Rather than being written in the usual format to describe the cabin, it’s a recount of their experience of the cabin being recategorised recently. A stressful experience for them as they were initially moved from their cabin!

We had originally booked a new Aqua cabin on deck 11, but moved to concierge on another deck because of noise issues from the movies above. The price was higher than our original Aqua booking however. If our concierge cabin is recatgorised, we’ ll be very happy.

  9. There’s a new post on the M Class cabin information thread about aft concierge cabins being changed to Aqua on the Summit. Interestingly all the Aqua staterooms that were available for our November cruise are no longer available today. There were many available last week.

Has as anyone else been contacted by Celebrity about their stateroom being upgraded?

i notice that the OP is traveling in 2021 and has already been contacted. We haven’t heard a word, but this would be a welcome change for us if it applies to Millie too.

  10. We decided to move to another deck as we couldn’t be confident that any room on deck 11 would be safe after reading numerous reviews on various sites. We really value a quiet balcony, although I realise this is not important to others.

As luck had it, we found an aft cabin with a large balcony on a quiet deck. It meant changing from Aqua to Concierge, but the stateroom reviews were great.

I’m guessing that 1103 is next to 1101 ( the state room mentioned in the other thread). I have a feeling that the same noise would be heard in both rooms.

  11. I rang Celebrity after reading other similar posts and the agent confirmed that they do receive complaints about the noise. It was suggested that another deck would be a better option if I wanted to experience a quiet balcony.

Oddly, many of these staterooms are AQ1 which I took to mean would be in a prime position without any issues. If anything they should be AQ2.

Love the idea of the use of headphones for movie viewers, much like a silent disco. That would be a win- win all round.

My parents and brother were all happy with their cabins (1127 and 1123). Noise was not a problem.

    Thank you for the feedback.

We decided not to risk it and changed decks. I enjoyed reading your review.

  13. Thank you so much for sharing your beautifully written blog. We will be sailing on Celebrity Millenium, so it was wonderful to read about your experiences.

Our itinerary is slightly different as the ship will not be visiting Hiroshima or Nagasaki. We will be visiting two ports in Taiwan and then complete the cruise in Hong Kong after visiting Shanghai. So there is much in your blog to read up on!

From your blog, it seems there is so much to see in Kobe and Kyoto than I realised. We are now having second thoughts about Hiroshima given the travel time involved.

I hope you mind if I come back with more questions once our planning is under way. Thank you again for sharing.

  15. Gracie, in the end I contacted Celebrity and they confirmed that they  do receive complaints about noise from the movies affecting these staterooms.

The helpful suggestion was,  if you want to enjoy your balcony in peace and quiet, then these may not be the staterooms for you. We have moved to another deck.

  16. Our ship arrives at Kobe at 11.00 am and departs at 6.00 pm the following day. Would this allow us enough time to visit Hiroshima and possibly Miyajima? We would consider staying overnight and returning to the ship on the second day.

No -- you are incorrect.  When we stayed in Aqua 1141 last fall ( on the Millennium) the rooftop terrace and movies had been installed.  Movies were played daily.  My birdwatching husband spends a great amount of time on our balconies.  Neither of us heard much noise from the rooftop terrace movies.  The only time we heard noise from any of the movies was when the children's Disney movie "CoCo" was played, and then we could hear some of the singing, but not the dialog.  And since we were on for a B2B (28 nights) if the noise had been an issue we would have noticed.  Hope this helps.

My apologies. I incorrectly assumed  movie shows were a part of the refurbishment that took place earlier this year.

1141 is in a great spot - wish it was available for our trip!

Seems to be that the noise is determined by the location of the speakers. In another thread currently running on CC, cabin 1101 was badly affected. The speakers were on the balcony on top of this cabin. After complaints they were placed elsewhere, but only to revert to their original position on a number of occasions.

We’re on the Portside down from there, but may consider a move to another cabin if one opens up elsewhere.

Just to give you a bit of a heads up in case your experience might be dissimilar to Mike's. I think, in all fairness, that there is something about your personal schedule/habitual use of your stateroom and the movie schedule as to how you will, or won't, be impacted by the movie "noise." For example, you'll never be bothered by the noise from a Silent Disco, anywhere on the ship, if you're a participant at the Silent Disco. For me, I love to celebrate sailaway on my balcony which absolutely coincided with a movie being played, or a movie concert type video being played, at every single sailaway of the itinerary. It was extremely disturbing to me.

You alluded to the speakers being an issue as a possibility. Ultimately, it was the speakers that sent me to Guest Relations. They were placed in such a way that there was a buzzing, vibrational sound that echoed within our stateroom. It was the most annoying type of flying mosquito, chirping cricket, locust type of noise as an analogy of the type of annoying sound that was created. Again, this might not have disturbed other occupants because of personal schedules in the stateroom versus the movie time schedule. It was serendipitous that I was in the stateroom and there was a Comment Card on the desk and I decided to let them know my feelings about the changes that have been made to AQ, regarding the movie theatre intrusion into what I've always loved about being on Deck 11.

The outcome of my complaint is that engineering got involved and the speakers were moved. They had been placed along the railing of the upper deck and were, therefore, directly above the balcony edge of our stateroom. The moving of the speakers was such a relief to me! But then came the back and forth... I don't know why the speakers had to continually be moved back to the position where they were a disturbance, but they were. In memory, I had them moved about 4 times before I gave up and let it be.

For me, it was a fight and a simple decision to not book on the side of Deck 11 in the future. I don't want to post as a Negative Nelly, but to just inform about the speaker situation and the assistance from Guest Relations in the event that your stateroom use versus the movie timing becomes an issue. A cautionary tale is my simple thought and the reason for my posting to you.

I just checked my records so I can tell you we were in 1101. I know that doesn't make any sense? Why would the speakers be positioned down the side, away from the movie screen? I can't even tell you the reason because it made no sense to me as well. I can only repeat the information that I received from Guest Relations who, by the way, were very helpful and concerned.

Thank you for your frank opinion and detailed response which is quite alarming. I think our expectations would be in line with yours.

One of the main reasons we enjoy the balcony is to relax in peace and quiet. It’s a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of shore excursions and shipboard life. While some may not find the sound from movies, bars and entertainers intrusive, I would prefer not to hear them from my balcony.

As you say it comes down to when and how often the movies are shown. Typically we use the balcony at sail away, in the afternoon and pre dinner. Sea days, we use the balcony a lot.

Unforutnately, there were few other cabin options when we booked. We haven’t sailed for several years so were unaware of the changes to the rooftop terrace. It was only a chance remark on a review that alerted me to the changes and the potential noise issue.

It’s not a good enough reason to cancel, but we will keep a lookout for a cabin in another area if one comes up. It’s good to know that Guest Relations were responsive to your complaints. Perhaps between now and our sailing a permanent solution may be found.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good time as much as the next person, but when I’m on board my cabin and balcony are my quiet places.

We were on the Millennium for 28 nights last fall in one of the aft Aqua staterooms with the oversized balconies.  We rarely heard any noise from above, and it was not an issue.

I think that may have been before the refurbishment and the rooftop terrace started showing movies.

I was on the Summit recently and hoping that they would show some recent movies at night--much like they do on other cruise lines. They didn't. They did show some movies during the dinner hours, but that was too early for me. I was hoping for later--like a 10:00 to midnight recent movie. It never happened.

At night they show much quieter nature shows. My assumption is that they discovered feature movies were too disruptive to the deck 11 balconies so they only play them in the early evening--when most are at dinner.

    Thanks Mike. That seems reassuring.

I like the concept of outdoor movies myself, but not if it disturbs others. Silent movies ( similar to the silent disco) would work well though!

  21. If you are sailing before November, I would love to hear your feedback about any noise from the movies on the side cabins of deck 11. If you’re sailing after that, I’ll let you know of our experience!

The cabin we have booked seems to be directly under the screen on deck 11. The position of the speakers is probably more relevant however. The only other options were near the steps immediately above the aft bar or opposite the fitness centre. I’m not sure if we’ve made the right decision.

It seems strange that Celebrity would classify these as AQ1 if there is noise from the movie screening above. Rather at odds with the  whole Aqua relaxation concept associated with the Persian Garden etc. We have only sailed in aft cabins and loved sitting on our balcony.

For the record, Celebrity  has told me that these cabins are not listed as being impacted by noise.

  22. Has anyone stayed on deck 11 of the Millenium and have any recent feedback about the impact of noise from the movies showing on the Rooftop terrace?

I’ve found some  fairly negative comments on the cabin spread sheet reported in 2016 and  wondered if Celebrity has addressed the issue?

The only AQ cabins available for our booking are port aft side. Thank you.

Thank you for your very informative review.

Was your family happy in the port cabins on deck 11? Was there any noise from deck 12 and was the lack of overhang an issue? We are booked in 1117 later this year.
