If you are docked in our Gruz harbor, the main bus terminal is a few meters from the exit. Take the Libertas #10 (25 Kuna per person) to Cavtat. Enjoy the waterfront, have a coffee or lunch or sample some of our Dalmatian wine. You can then take the small ferry boat back to Dubrovnik, a very pleasant 40 minute ride. The drop of point for the ferry is the old harbor, just a few from the old part of town. Walk around, buy the tickets and enjoy the views from the wall. Do pace your time, you will need about 2 hours to walk the entire wall, taking a few photos and generally enjoy the views. Have a fun day, but remember to depart Cavtat no later than noon.
Thank you for the information. It's very helpful.

Dubrovniktravelady....we are docked Sept 30, 9-6. Would you suggest taking a ferry to Cavtat first then walking the old walled city? Or the other way around...is it doable to do both? Open to suggestions. Thank you.

We are looking at tour company Sicily with Mario. The Godfather tour includes Taormina , Savoca and Messina. Keith do you think it's important to see Mt Etna? What other towns would you recommend. We dock in Catania. And as I said we are there twice. Are there private taxis for hire that we could use the second visit? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the info I'll check them out and ask you questions as I have them. [emoji4]karska, I am glad you enjoyed the photos. How nice you have two trips.
I would recommend doing a tour the first time you are there and then after that experience you can decide if there is something else you want to do on a tour or if you would just want to go out on your own.
I prefer private tours over the ships tour as you can change things up and go at your own pace. Should you think the price is too high you could try through your roll call to get another couple to join you to bring down the costs.
We used quite a bit Joe Banana Limos but in Rome we used Drive In Rome and on our trip later this year we will use Rome In Limo.
If you book three tours (could be in different cities) most of these companies offer discounts.
I would check out each of their sites.
They are all great responding back quickly to any and all questions you have including pricing.

Great pictures..We dock in Catania Sept 23 and are in port from 10-6 and again Oct 5 7-4
What would you suggest that is "must see" without a 7hr tour? Is it doable to to Taormina, and Mt Edna and sight see Catania? how would you prioritize.
Thanks in advance..

Weather this year has been so very different from years prior. I have seen September to have the most incredible Indian summer. That being said I have seen it turn to fall very quickly. Most of the time September has been perfect, not too cold nor too hot. Check again in early August, we may have a better idea. Good to hear you are interested in learning.
Thank you for all your information.

It sounds like we would get more information from a local guide. And all sounds doable in our time frame.
Thank you. If you can think of anything more please let me know. What is approximate temperature end of September.

Hi. We are stopping here Sunday Sept 30 2018 on a Celebrity cruise. It's our first time at this stop. We are in port from 9am to 6pm..Would you recommend taking a private tour or is it enough time that we can manage on our own? What would you suggest as important to see..sounds like Mt. Srd and the walled city. Thanks in advance for your suggestions..Also need time to stop for lunch..food is always important :)

"Plugs" seem to be going the way of the horse and buggy. We are now using USB ports more than the plug-ins. However, Amazon.com has many choices.
This is an interesting one: http://www.amazon.com/Multiple-Charger-Charging-Protected-Smartphone/dp/B00W4WWCFI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1454525907&sr=8-1&keywords=multiple+outlet+charger#Ask
This is what I use for my Kindle(s) and Android phone (will do many other things as well and it does them quickly). http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JJ2C0S0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00
Also, I don't worry how many plugs there are in my cabin because I use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Multiple-Outlet-Strip-4-OUTLET-POWER/dp/B000HJ982K/ref=sr_1_14?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1454526290&sr=1-14&keywords=multiple+outlet+power+strip
Thank you for the information.

Do you mean something like this?
All you need is to take the above charging cables and one of these:

Great thanks. Now have to search for one that works with android, kindle etc.

Hi Karen,
Hope that you and Bob & his flip-top phone are well and happy.
We've e-mailed you something that we found on-line. Hope that it may help.

Insignia Sept 2014

To Iamthesea. Thank you, the multi charger is what I was thinking of.
-
What I am thinking of is a universal charger that can charge several devices at the same time. And will I need the long chords with devices or are there other options. Thanks again for info.
-
Can anyone recommend a charger with dual voltage that can be used to charge Samsung s6, iPod, iPad, kindle, laptop camera and last but not least my DH flip phone. Do you still have to use the long chords?
Thanks for any info.

We did a motorcycle sidecar tour in Lisbon and loved it. If I remember correctly it was with Daniel, owner of company. Also, on cc check out individual towns, we got a lot of info that way. Our cruise was last September on Insignia.

Celebrity is our favorite ,used to like Princess until they put in a large screen TV by the pool. Like piece and quiet. Night life is somewhat important. Esp music/dancing. Not a big show person. Also won't do 5000 passenger ships.

In Florence the jeweler we've dealt with is The Gold Corner by Sante croce square. Not inexpensive but reputable. They carry alot of Fope. Beautiful but expensive. All 18k. Good luck. I understand wanting something special from your travels. Ponte Vecchio you need to know pricing each shop is different. And is very touristy.

Thanks Karska - the specialty restaurant menus really look great. Oh yes, how was your fourteen day trip?
Loved it. Believe it was called Cathedrals and Crowns. Monte Carlo to Southampton. Food was good in all venues, we just didn't like terrace cafe for dinner.

We were on this ship in September. We could book 4 reservations to specialty. But got many more while on board, but they were late 8:30. On a 14 day cruise we ate in the specialty venues half the time.

we recently returned from a 13 night medit. cruise on X Equinox.
While we were pleased, you mentioned 1 thing that many don't realize the # of back to back port days.
we had the last 4 days as port days and that was too much , especially when you are travelling 1 + hours from port to city, like Rome -Florence.
I believe Oceania is know to be port intensive which for Europe is a turn off--It is ok in Caribbean as there is nothing that one needs to see..
That was the beauty of O, all but one port docked right in the town center. Yes, Rome is far. Not one of our ports. O goes to alot of smaller places which we loved. We are doing the equinox in January, Caribbean.
