13 cruises on O and counting and I have never seek leggings on any R ship. It may be different on the larger ships with a more diverse and possibly younger crowd.
Too funny. We're going on our first O cruise (Insignia) in Sept. And I'm taking a pair of black leggings for evening to wear with different tops. Dresses, pants etcetc

We stayed in an aft cabin, won't again. Higher up can see below decks. No privacy.
-
My first cruise was on Sitmar, inside cabin. Can't do that anymore, clostrphobic. Have done RCCL, NCL.. Nor my favs. Like Princess, dislike large movie screen by pool. Love Celebrity. Doing O in Sept

I wasn't aware of this tax until reading this thread. Fortunately our cruise in Sept starts in Monte Carlo, then stopping at several ports in Spain, then Portugal and France. If I'm reading this correctly we'll have to pay this tax only while in Spain ports. Thank goodness we can bring wine and spirits on board. Definitely will do that in Monte Carlo. :D:D

It's not the excursion that you need permission for, it's the need to deviate from the ship's movement, i.e. you ain't getting back on board when the ship leaves a port. For that your TA will need to ask for an "Alternate Port Request".
You filled in the blanks that I left out. And there is such a form. It takes a few days to receive approval We got it from our O rep. And before final pmt you need to reconfirm as it states on the form.
-
I'm also looking forward to seeing pictures of Insignia from recent cruisers. We are sailing on her Sept 6, 2014. Monte Carlo to Southampton.
Our first with Oceania.
-
Make sure you read the form. They recommend you contact special services dept prior to final pmt to reconfirm.

We got an Alternate Port approval form. We requested to get off in LeVerdon, picking up a tour there, and then being dropped off at the ship in Bordeaux later in the day. We spoke to our O agent and got a form approving. However there are caveats mentioned on the form. Which basically covers their behind.

From the cruise terminal to city centre is a 1.5km walk - takes us about 20 minutes and goes past the excellent Muelle Uno (Pier One) shopping/restaurant area within the port. However, there is a little train that runs from the terminal to entrance gates where the HOHO bus stops.
Personally I think the HOHO is a waste of money as the old city is so compact/very pedestrian friendly and many of the most interesting areas are inaccessible by vehicles but of course it is ideal if you just want to see the major sites in comfort. The HOHO will take you up to the castle (Gibralfaro) so you wouldn´t need to use the no. 35 bus. Here is the link for the HOHO http://www.malaga-tour.com/malaga/infomalaga_ing.html
Hope this helps a bit.
So are you saying that where you want to be is the old city area...and that's where the main points of interest are?
Thank you in advance for your response and information.
Next I'll ask your thoughts about Cadiz.
-
We will be in Malaga Sept 10, Wednesday. Is the town walking distance
from the port?
Thank you campo lady for all your suggestions.
We've decided to see Malaga. We're thinking of the HOHO bus.
What are your thoughts as I see you suggest #35 bus.

Hi, All,
We are Priscilla and Danny and we're sailing on the Insignia on September 6th.
We're trying to figure out how to get from the ship in Southampton to London on the 20th of September. We'll be heading back to the USA on the 21st. Does anyone know of any good excursions?
We sailed on the Regatta in September, 2013...New England to Canada and in 2011 we sailed the Regatta from Anchorage to Vancouver.
Looking forward to meeting all of you!
Lol. Just 'quoted' wrong poster. Anyway, go on the roll call for Sept 6 cruise. We are on that too and will take a tour from Southampton to London. We've looked into several different tours.

HI!
We are working with http://www.discoverthesouth.co.uk/ and they have many options for your return after the cruise. This limo and tour company, based in Southampton, seem to be very flexible and responsive to your inquiries and needs.
Go on the roll call for Sept 6 cruise. Since its the one you are booked on you'll get appropriate info. We are also going to take a tour from Southampton ending in London. Staying there for a week.

We are on the Sept 6 cruise too. We are looking into touring Stonehenge, Windsor and Salisbury with a drop off at our hotel in London. It's a bus tour.
-
We're looking into being picked up at ship port, touring Stonehenge and Windsor. Then dropped off at hotel in London. Two companies I've looked at are Viator and Internationalfriends.co.uk. Has anyone had experience with these, or suggestions of other tour companies. This will be in September, Cathedrals and Crowns. Thank you in advance.
-
Has anyone used either Viator or Internationalfriends.co.uk ? They pick you up in Southampton and tour Salisbury, Stonehenge and Windsor then drop off at hotel in London. If anyone has other suggestions I'm interested to hear from you.

When I mentioned mainstream I was talking about what on cc is called mass market ex, Princess etc. On those there is no regard for dress code, such as'formal'night. Looking forward to country club casual on O.

No more tuxedos or formal dress for us. Country club casual is perfect, although I'll still take too many clothes:D. Even if we go on mainstream, we'll eat in specialty dining on formal nights. Too many people ignore the dress code.

We are booked on the Insignia this Sept. It will be refurbished and back this spring. This will be our first Oceania cruise. We're looking forward to a small ship experience. Have cruised with Princess, Celebrity, and NCL.
-
This is exactly what my sister and I did for our up-coming Sept..6 cruise on Regatta. We got the flights/dates we wanted at a cost we were willing to pay.
Donna
We also took the air credit and are looking into flights now. We just don't like making too many stops, but are looking at three now. I see you are in the same state we are, and on the same cruise.
-
I also posted too soon. Great pictures. The ship looks great. We're going on the Insignia this Sept, our first Oceania cruise. Hope the ship looks this great after it's refurbishment
-
Thank you for the pictures. The ship looks beautiful. We're going on the Insignia this Sept. It's being refurbished this spring, I hope it looks this nice.

I agree with Mura, haven't found right itinerary on Azamara. Plus, their cruises are short, so would have to do btb in Europe esp.
-
Thanks everyone for helpful info. We're looking at So Kensington area now, near the tube. The Ampersand was a great suggestion.
Beware of phony "recommendations"... a reminder

Wow. Being somewhat a newbie this is unbelievable to think co cruisers would take advantage. I understand now, being a newbie trying to set up a private tour, that I got very little interest. I'm not naive but.....
Oh well, I'll have to look into other options, as we won't pay for six when it's only us for now.
