  1. UGH. What a nightmare. I actually thought of doing that but then figured it could turn into a huge mess. Think we are going to go back to other lines-and I actually really want to try a Princess coastal to get a feel for them-but the 14 day ones are perfect on Disney because of the entertainment factor for my son. There is just so much more for him to do on a Disney. I'll keep looking and the Oct EB if it's similar to 2017 would be fine too but likely going to end up in the same boat :P

  2. The only thing I saw on the schedule that even pretends to be exciting is the WB Panama Canal Cruise. Otherwise' date=' it continues exactly as one would expect based on 2017. Lots of "same old, same old."[/quote']

Haha--that is EXACTLY the one I am interested in.

  3. This is going to sound very spoiled but here goes: I am getting tired of the Caribbean, Mexican and Alaska offerings and would like to try some new itineriaes and places that are somewhat wheelchair friendly. What are some of the best itineraries you have done with someone who is a full time chair user or very limited mobility?

  4. Ex Techie-- I have apologized. I have no wish to argue with anyone. I had a REALLY long day fighting for my sons needs and took the original post the wrong way. It shocks me every time but it's true--I am not perfect.

    Have a great day.

  5. You're right and I was being a little too snippy in my response after a long day. I read the title and hopped in to help and then was knee jerk offended by whether or not a cruise could be enjoyed if the child was using a wheelchair or walker. As we both know, it's certainly not the worse thing in the world and a great cruise can be had from a chair. I wouldn't cancel. Sure, it will be harder than if he were ambulatory but its more than doable and he may find activities he enjoys that he wouldn't have taken the time for if his leg was not broken.

  6. Yes they do but it is 75% credit towards another cruise taken within a year.

Since posting this we have been very happy with Nationwide Luxury Cruise Policy (with the additional Cancel for Any Reason rider) for two cruises since and MedJet Membership. Of course we haven't had to use them yet so take us being happy with that grain of salt :) We bought through InsureMyTrip.

We also use our credit card insurance as a last line of defense :)

  7. We sailed last week and so hurricanes were on my mind. I am curious how private insurance companies would handle this if there was a hurricane warning? Just wondering for the sake of wondering. We don't buy cruise line insurance and go through private companies. Does that change whether or not you have a choice to fly into a hurricane warning area and proceed with vacation?

  8. We (3 adults, my husband and I and our 18 year old son who is a fulltime wheelchair user) are currently booked in 7636 on the Wonder. I went in today to make final payment and 6654 has opened up at the same price. I have done some poking around at pictures and it seems 6654 has a much larger balcony and no mention of the water issues on the balcony that 7636 has.

Looking for advice from anyone who has stayed in both on if you would switch? And why or why not? It is a 7 day Thanksgiving time cruise to the Bahamas out of Galveston if that matters.

  9. I just got off yesterday. We bought the 1000 MB package for $89 because my husband thought he would need it for work. He checked his mail 2-3 times a day. I checked my mail once a day and FB messages and iMessages. We had cell service all day in St Thomas so we did a lot of our posting of pictures and such there. 2 days before the end of the cruise we had only used 250 MB so we started letting the kids check FB and Instagram periodically. When we got off the ship we had only used 389 MB of our 1050 available (I had signed up first day). Next time we will get the 300 MB package which was $39 on this sailing since we have one US port mid week again and can upload pics then.

  10. Just returned from a week on the Fantasy. It was a special cruise for our sons 18th birthday. Everything could not have gone better and so much of that is due to all the preplanning research I was able to do here and all the advice given by so many.

Mokismommy your advice the past few months made our trip fantastic. THANK YOU!!

  11. There are golf carts that run from the dock to the private cabanas. We had the worst experience there with a worker who wanted to throw my sons wheelchair on the TOP of the cart and hold on to it while he drove. Um, NO. They were SO rude and we ended up just walking (rolling) back.

  12. The original poster was talking about bringing enough for a family and specifically for Castaway Cay. I personally am not about to worry about that on my Disney cruise. So absolutely, to each his own, except on Castaway Cay where you aren't allowed.
