Thank you for sharing. Good luck causing the company all the grief you can; various attorneys general around the Country (most of whom would prefer to grow up to be Governor, and love publicity), including perhaps your home state's, may be interested in pursuing on behalf of their citizens.

Heard about "theme cruises" that are advertised by the cruise line, whether for country music, jazz, LGBT, Mah Jong, natural (nudists) living, Scientologist, or chamber music (etc.) fans. But, I did not think these are essentially organized by the fans' organizing to take over a particular sailing rather than the line designating a particular cruise has that theme. It seems to me that the line should control the space available to assure all customers have access to customarily accessible and popular areas of the ship. Otherwise, most of the pax will patronize a different line, next time. Not good for anyone.

I was checking to see what cabins are still available on our Zuiderdam Baltic cruise in July. The difference in price between a Signature Suite I choose myself and one HAL chooses for us is $1500, which makes me think that there must be some VERY undesirable Signature Suites on the ship! Since this is our first HAL cruise, I wonder if anyone can fill me in on this! Is it typical for HAL? Should I call my TA and look into an upsell to their choice suite?
Suggest you ask your TA to explain whether the difference is due to a decrease (and you want a similar discount) or to that big a difference among the same class of Signature Suite depending on size/location.

Write a letter to HAL Guest Relations and include a copy of your printed promo. They can often work things out to your satisfaction. It has worked for me. Your explanation in your post is sincere and logical. It's sure worth a try.
Great suggestion. Also, there are likely enough of you that one super organized person could do the research, survey the Roll Call as to interest in one or more specific shorex's, publish the list of committed pax for each shorex under separate tabs, and set the meeting time and place on the ship for each shorex's pax to meet well before the pick-up time. We benefited from a number of these on a TA to Rome, and saved $$$. The excursions were top-notch, at each port.
Just sayin'.
Bon Voyage!

Is there a children's menu on the new Holland America ship the koningsdam?
I asked Hal and they said no but I have read there other ships have kids menus can anyone tell me if they have been on the ship if they have them or not
We've seen some kids on each HAL cruise. I recall the Room Service menu had a few kids meal items, but we adults would have had no reason to see or request kids' menus in the MDR. There likely are such things. In any case, the Loft (for kids) must serve them what they like, and the Lido always has a wealth of choices - including pizza, burgers and hot dogs. Check with your PCC or TA -- they can learn exactly what's on the big boat. Good luck!

the place to meet people booked on your cruise is your roll call, located here:

looks pretty active.
thanks!

Anyone else already booked? I'm sure there are many.
Let me know if there's an on-going sub-forum elsewhere.

H-A excursions are much pricier, but more reliably good. Unless you find a pax who has done what you want to do where you're going to be, and highly recommends the vendor, verify on board early with the Concierge (or folks at the Excursion Desk) that H-A's offer will do what you & your girls want, and have a helluva time!

Your wife will greatly appreciate it. Don't fail to try the upscale Pinnacle (restaurant) for breakfast, or to visit the Concierge in the Neptune Lounge! Both are wonderful perquisites of your Suite Voyage!

Seems that we should miss out on all the fun and excitement. We are on HA's 25-day TA, FLL to Rome, in late March. Darn!

In all fairness I left out an Important fact. The day before they left they had to put down their dog they were a mess.
Couldn't they have just put him in a kennel?

€170 (+ Tip?), shared ((€85/ couple). All you need is to seek three shipmates to go with you from and to the same places.
Easy, if early enough and lucky enough, on CC!

What is the name of the casino and where is it located in relation to where the ship is docked...
The Crystal and Seaport are co-owned. Both are an easy walk from the docks. Dutch Pankoeke House is super, too. At rear of Renaissance Mall, across a small street from Seaport Casino. Enjoy!

Rode Tram in Oct/Nov 2013. It's free, slow, and pleasant but for how loud the brakes/curves are, or were then; hopefully, they've been oiled/repaired/replaced. It travels between the snack shack stop near the Arubus terminal downtown along a shopping street to/near the Renaissance Plaza with frequent stops, and returns along a parallel route. Just tell one of two conductors (front and back) where you want to go. Don't be in a hurry. But, why would you be, in Aruba? Have a great time! BTW--New menu at the Dutch Pankoeke House in Renaissance Plaza. Bon Bini!

Canada/NE October Zuiderdam or Veendam?
in Holland America Line

Great decision! We'll see you on board! We loved the Veendam, but the Zuiderdam is a great ride. Enjoy!
