  1. Has anyone recently upgraded the free veranda to AquaClass? Trying to verify what Blue Chip club charged to do the upgrade. I called today and was told

it is $20.00 a day pp. Just wondering if anyone was charged a different amount. We never were in AquaClass since some of the locations depending on ship are not the greatest. We usually like midship close to the elevators. However, some of the perks that come with it are appealing such as eating in blu. Wonder if the food is really better then MDR?.

Typically the comped offers on the select sailings are in the very near future and generally have cheaper fares.  The best deal you can get is if you qualify for the $10/night AquaClass upgrade, you have to call in and ask.

I just called the Blue Chip club to ask about the AquaClass upgrade and they said the price is $20.00 per night pp and not the $10.00 as indicated above. They said the $10.00 is for Concierge class not Aqua. Has anyone gotten the Aqua for $10.00?

  3. Just called Blue Chip Club and the Equinox sailings we wanted were either all booked or obstructed view. Very disappointed in myself that I did not see the offer sooner. Wound up with the Reflection in March for 7 days but not as good as 9 days had we been able to get the Equinox. Wish these offers went out further then March since we have a Blur Chip sailing on Reflection before end of December.

Just crazy how they decide who to send offers to since I see in some of these posts that people who spend a lot in casino have not gotten offers and others who spend almost nothing get them.

  4. I somehow missed reading the email from 11/21with so many offers and went searching for it after reading these posts. Not sure how many of the sailings are still available. I selected 2-10 day sailings on  the Edge and 1-9 day on the Equinox. Will be on the Reflection before end of December on a Blue Chip offer. Was on the 9/17 sailing of the Equinox and tested positive on day 5 of nine day sailing so really looking forward to upcoming cruise. Sure hope that one of my selections is accepted.

  5. Taking a Blue chip cruise in December. I never take the cruise lines insurance but go to insure my trip or squaremouth  to find much better coverage. The cruise is less than $300.00 and found a policy for $131.00 with high coverages for the most important things you want covered such as medical and medical evacuation since you never know what may happen. .

  6. Was on the 9/17 sailing and I tested positive on the 22nd. Got the prorated refund a few days ago.

Will be on the Reflection in December with the Blue Chip Club free offer and we will wear our masks on the ship except when eating. It was not an experience I care to repeat.

We did not wear our masks on the ship and did not see many masks on our sailing and after managing to stay safe for 2 years always knew there was a chance of testing positive.

  7. We were on the 9/17 9 day sailing and went to medical on the 22nd and tested positive. My wife wanted me to stay in our cabin and not move to deck 3. I agree that Celebrity could not have been nicer regarding the food and giving us the premium wi-fi and assigning a concierge who kept checking on us. At the end of the cruise they provided transportation to the hotel to pick up our car and we drove home. If I had to do it again we would have worn our masks everywhere except when eating. Except for the crew almost none of the passengers had on masks. Don't know if I caught it traveling down to Florida or on the ship. Makes me wonder how many people on the sailing got sick and I'm sure it's nothing they would advertise.

  8. Any idea how many people tested positive? We were on the 9/17 9 day sailing and I tested positive on the 22nd. We managed to stay safe for 2 years but knew there was always a chance to catch it. WE would have worn our masks at all times except when eating had we known but saw almost nobody except the crew with masks on.

Here is a link to the policy. You’ll see that medical is $25,000, and evacuation is $50,000. Those limits may be adequate if you are just going to the Caribbean.

The $50,000 evacuation will get you back to the states, but remember that evacuation coverage in any policy means hospital to hospital transfer after you have been treated locally and only if you need a higher level of care as determined by participating doctors and the insurance company.

The $25,000 medical might be enough if you have other insurance, depending on how it works. With good coverage, the $25,000 could be used for deductibles and co-pay.

You can get a third-party policy with much higher limits since you are insuring a minimum cruise cost. Most policies have a break point at $500 or  $1,000 increments. Use one of the websites to see what it would cost to insure the least amount. You’ll  still get full benefits of the policy.

I usually get the insurance from either insure My Trip or Squaremouth. Some of the premiums are more than the cruise cost but others are actually half of the cost. Will have to review the coverage limits and make a decision on which to take.

  10. Got an unexpected free cruise on Reflection thru blue chip club so am trying to read as much as possible about the ship to enhance the experience. Have been on Equinox 4 times and Solstice once and loved both ships. Would expect Reflection to be just as great.

What are you trying to insure?  The cost of the cruise? Medical expenses?  Do you have other insurance coverage?

Looking for high medical and evacuation because you never know what may happen. Since cost of cruise is so low not to worried about recouping that. In the past I have taken travel insurance that was not much cheaper than the cost of this cruise. It does not pay to skimp on coverage.

  12. Just booked a free cruise thru the blue chip club. Price is less than $300.00 for a week. I always take travel insurance thru one of travel insurance websites because  the various coverages such as medical or evacuation have high limits. Even thought the cruise cost is so low I dont want to skimp on having good coverage limits. Just wondering how the Celebrity travel insurance worked out for anyone having to use it.

  13. Thanks again to all who responded. The reason that i was trying to get so much detailed info is that we received a Blue Chip Club offer for a free cruise and apparently even those cabins with the angled  balconies on the deck plans are included. Just booked one of the cabins that were indicated to have the 3X balcony for less than $300.00 total price. Seems kind of crazy but the deal was to good to pass up.

If you are coming forward from the flat side of the hump, 8232 starboard and 8259 port side, the 1st and 3rd staterooms on the angle have the largest balcony (3x), while the 2nd and 4th staterooms on the angle have large, but only (2x).  Same for going aft of the flat side.  Does that make sense?

So that should mean that 8230 and 8226, 8257 and 8253 would be the ones that balcony is 3x. Am I correct?

  15. Trying to determine the difference between cat 1A and 1B. Cant really tell from deck plan. Also some of the 1A cabins as example on deck 8 the balconys are on an angle see 8224, 26, 28 30,51,53,55 and 57. Are these bigger or higher premium?

Greatly appreciate any information to help making a choice.

  16. Our confirmation from Celebrity is dated 14 AUG 2022 and total charges for Taxes, fees and port expenses is $316.56. It also indicates that deposit of $500.00 is due by 18 JAN 2023. This is probably just standard wording. Also says that final payment is due by 18 JAN 2023. Much rather have the Blue Chip offer leaving from Florida. Just wonder if I had not taken the Calif offer would I have gotten the one from Florida.

What payment are you referring to?  Only cost is port charges and taxes and you have to pay that when you book.  It is refundable if you cancel.  Only other charge is tips, which you pay onboard.
