  1. my cruise on Xmas day is scheduled to arrive at 3:30 PM, ship leaves at 11:00 PM. What an awful time. Is it worth it to run to a beach ? Maybe get 2 hours of sun ? Anyone have had the same situation?

If everything is closed on Xmas day i would still go to the beach. You might only get 1 hour of sun but get to see, the sun go down and spend a great evening enjoying a meal or drinks right on a beach.

Just my opinion since i do not get a chance to spend enough time on the beach at any time:D

  2. For those leaving late i would do a full day tour, so much to see. I went to the rainforest and then stayed at the beach till 9:00pm having drinks and dinner.

Early is not easy like everywhere everything is closed at that time and not sure where you could store your luggage. If you do not feel like waiting around, tour from the airport, you have plenty of time (almost all day) to go to the rainforest or whatever you think works for you.

  3. This beach break looks interesting. Which beach is it at, how much is it to get there by taxi?

    Thanks Laura

The way they work is by filling out their form of the tour you want with your details and they will answer you with all the info needed. They are very thorough.

  4. Thanks for posting, the beach break looks really nice! I have used Island marketing at other ports so I feel secure in using them.

Great stretch of beach very little people around us ( just a handful) felt alone all day. Maybe those who would like more of a party/active atmosphere might be bored but i loved it. Rested great, great drinks and food exactly what i was looking for:)

  5. Can I bump this question?

Looking at RCI own El Yunque drive. Sets off 7.30, drive an hour, 2 stops at Tourist centre and Coco waterfall.

4 hour trip total $49 each

Is it worth it to catch glimpse of rainforest?

Our stay at PR is only 7-2 (Allure) so can't do much on our own safely in that time...

If you will not get to hike la Mina or go to the tower might not be worth it.

Pick a tour that does hike to la mina! Otherwise tour the Old City if you have not already done that.

  6. More of city sites after we visited the forts....was also concerned with the time. It would probably be dark after 6:00 P.M.in October, right?

If you are also looking for City sites like Condado and Isla Verde i would suggest a tour. Most tours are 4 hours and you can get it all done by 6PM.

Then you can relax at Cafe on your own and enjoy the Old City again.

  7. If your not wanting a tour walk the old town, plenty of time to enter a fort and see most of it in daylight. Have a Puerto Rican coffee and a Mallorca ( local pastry) enjoy the afternoon!

If you're looking for a tour i know charlie has private tours and looking up a zipline tour to copy paste i noticed that Island Marketing put up a new tours that look great.

  8. In port between 1:00 to 10:00 PM in late October. We plan on visiting the Forts first. What would you add afterwards for a couple of hours? Will it get dark early? Any must see in Old San Juan? Not really interested into spending much time at any restaurant or bar.

    Thanks!

Are you looking for a tour or just walk around the old city?

  9. I think they will not sell a day pass when their are cruise ships in town.

For $70.00 per person, i would either go to the beach on my own via taxi or buy a beach break from Island Marketing if you like things prepared for you.

  10. This will be first time taking 3 of my 5 "kids" on a cruise. they are 23, 16 and 13. We are sailing Carnival Magic 8/5/2017 and they really want to zip line in the rain forest. I know San Juan has El Yunque rain forest but we are in port 1:00pm-8:00pm. Our other ports are Grand Turk, St Maarten and St. Kitts. I am disappointed that we are in San Juan in afternoon/evening as they have some great zip line tours but we wont be able to book them as they are scheduled in morning. Do any of the other ports have great zip lines in rain forest type environment?

I took a tour in the afternoon to the rainforest and they originally offered me zipline as a combo.

I did not partake but it is available, was a luggage day for me. Here is the link.

  11. We will be in SJ from 7AM to 2:30PM and am looking for ideas on what to do. The rainforest looks great or even the beaches. We've been to the forts before, so not looking to do that again. Any opinions on places/tours you have done is much appreciated. Thanks!! :)

Only because of your time in port i would probably go to the Rainforest. But the beaches are a great inexpensive way to pass the day as well.
