  1. If you are going with the purpose of seeing Hawaii, you should do a land vacation. It's much easier for Americans than most places that cruise ships sail. If you want to do a cruise with a little bit of Hawaii thrown in, by all meals do the NCLA cruise.

Hawaii is all about the Aloha spirit, the relaxed way of life etc. You won't get that on a cruise. There are so many things to do on Hawaii - I've spent several months and have only scratched the surface.

If you want to get the best of both worlds, you could do one of the one way cruises that go to or depart Honolulu and do a land vacation before or after your cruise. Radiance of the Seas does two cruises each year in transit between Vancouver and Sydney. Celebrity's Solstice does the same.

I totally agree about doing a land trip if you want to really see Hawaii. You can't truly appreciate the cruise life when you want to be off the ship as much as possible and staying in Hawaii you get to see and feel the islands without being on a bus from morning to night when touring from a ship. jmho

  2. First let me say the idea of the people who were put into your dds room will not agree to move to Boardwalk Balcony because at this point any BWB will be far from the rear of the ship that gives the best view of the water. Too far towards the middle of the ship and you really don't have a water view from the balcony.

Next since you are considerate of the Grandparents not moving why don't you move down the hall and let all the girls stay in between the grandparents rooms. You could visit on balconys whenever you want and you and your DH will then be able to have your alone time also without hurting the grandparents feelings when you are not attached at the hip for 7 days lol. After all it won't be "your" fault for the separation.

  3. I remember in early spring reading about a problem Bermuda was having and this is what I found.US Consulate Advisory: ‘Contaminated Beaches’

    March 31, 2014 | 90 Comments

[updated w/response from Tourism CEO] The U.S. Consulate in Bermuda has just issued a “Security Message” for U.S. Citizens entitled “contaminated beaches,” citing the “ongoing dumping of raw sewage off Bermuda’s south coast.”

The U.S. Consulate said, “Changing weather conditions – wind, swells, tides, and rain – can bring rapid degradation of water quality along the beaches, resulting in human bacteria levels from fecal contamination up to four times the acceptable U.S. standard.

“In 2013, as many as five of the beaches were described as ‘unfit for recreational use’ on different occasions based on water samples.

“According to the study, possible negative health effects for swimmers include gastroenteritis, ear infections, respiratory illnesses, and staph infections. In addition, as a general medical matter, persons exposed to sewage-contaminated water face increased risk of Hepatitis A, eye infections, and typhoid.”

The security message continued on to say that the “Government of Bermuda has announced that it plans to take measures to reduce or treat the outfall, but as of March 2014, the dumping continues unabated.”

..maybe this is cause of rash...

  4. Thank you.

We are in the process of buying a larger house to accommodate the expanded family. LOL

I'll tell you my little story. We down sized to a condo (luckily not a senior one) with 2 bedrooms and a finished walkout basement. We also had a large 3 row automobile that we traded in for a small convertible that I always wanted. Then my son comes to me and says he needs to leave his wife and take the 2 kids as she went down the wrong path. So here we are in a condo filled with the 5 of us and you know what it is better then we thought. We are blessed to be able to give our family a better place to be. Good luck to you and your growing family.

  5. As I recall in the past if there were any empty cabins for an upgrade you would have to see the "Pier Coordinator" first before check in. But as others have said I haven't seen an empty ship in the 35 I've been on. And by the way if you do get lucky you don't pay the difference as of the last going price but there is a schedule they follow by what you originally booked and what you upgrade to. If I remember it was very reasonable.
