Question? We also still have Grand Cayman showing on our itinerary... when did you find out you wouldn't be going to Grand Cayman? Pre-sailing or after you were underway? Grand Cayman is scheduled to be our first port stop... which I don't think will be happening
We received an email from Celebrity 2 days before sailing about the 1st change, Grand Cayman to Falmouth. On the cruise we found out we were going to Bimini instead of Falmouth.

My wife never had any issues with the hammock she hangs on the balcony, knock on wood. While saying that, we always tip the room attendant when we meet them but never mention the hammock.

My only real complaint is the smell that my clothes come back with. It’s hard to explain the smell, sort of a chemical type of thing.
My wife and I have noticed that same scent as well. Smells like they washed our clothes with their dining linens. Lol If the same washers and dryers are used for linens and guest clothing then that could possibly explain the scent??

MDR We did not eat in the MDR but talking to some guests they were not overly impressed with the MDR this cruise and the wait times to select dining seemed much longer than usual. One CC reader told me that she usually likes to eat in anytime with a sharing table which barely happened this cruise and even though she was willing to share a table some nights her wait times were up to 45/50 minutes despite being quoted 15 to 30 minutes. I also noticed many more pagers at the martini bar and I noticed these people with the pagers being able to sit down, order a drink, drink the drink, and even contemplate ordering another one before the pager went off. I’m not sure if they were simply having some management issues in MDR or if everyone just wanted to eat around the same time this cruise (between 6:30 and 7:30). But I definitely think it is an observation worth noting.
Paul,
Thank you for another great live blog and recap! My wife and I were on this cruise and it was excellent all around in our opinion. We wanted to stop by and say hello but you and Edward were very popular on the cruise. 😁
We had select dining and went to MDR on the 2nd formal night for the 1st time and asked for a table for 2. We were seated in less than 10 minutes, think it was around 6:45. Lobster was excellent, splurged and had 2 of them. Bar service in MDR was a little slow initially but after some small talk and sharing some laughs with the server, it was excellent from there.
Actually, we ate at the Oceanview Cafe most meals and always found something that was very good. Agree with you on the meat quality, we noticed in the buffet and specialty restaurants as well.
I’m a very firm believer in the below:
Attitude is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react.
Thanks again!

Hi could anyone tell me if Celebrity Silhouette has the table game Texas hold'em Bonus Poker in the casino.
Thanks in advance
On Silhouette now and my wife played last night. This game was on the other Celebrity ships we sailed as well. -

Do you know anything about Celebrity giving $100 for the port change from Ft Lauderdale to Miami? If so, how is it to be disbursed?
We received a 100 OBC just by having our TA call Celebrity before the cruise as did many others. Maybe speak with guest relations on ship about it?
Time to enjoy Aruba!

Leaving on the 12/13 cruise, called our travel agent and received a 100 OBC from Celebrity. We already had hotel/parking booked in Ft. Lauderdale and will just Lyft/Uber to Port of Miami. Once he explained that to Celebrity they gave us the 100 credit.
Safe travels to all and only 6 days till we set sail!

Following, as we board on 12/13 and thank you for doing a review.

When are kids were younger we purchased some cheap two way radios and they worked fine for us on the ships.

Barry, refer to post 231. In the daily it lists shuttle options(for a fee) from port to city center. If memory serves me right it is $9.99 one way or $17.99 round trip, but, must be purchased on board. I hope this helps.
Thats what we were quoted last week 17.99 per person round trip. We took Lyft to Boston Commons for 24 dollars round trip including tip.

We were on Summit last week. The Sundeck menu is every day including port days. I was surprised to find out that drinks are NOT complimentary on the Sundeck like they are in the lounge. Of course drink packages can be used.
Last week Im pretty sure there was the Luminae signature burger and a marinated grilled chicken sandwich on the retreat sundeck menu?? Am I losing my mind? Lol
1 hour ago, chemmo said:That menu for the Retreat looks rather limited....I was expecting a little more. Is this what we should expect on Equinox?
Is that it for the full cruise or does it change daily?
The menu up on the retreat sundeck stayed the same everyday while we were on Summit.

Jim, following along, got off the ship when you got on. As you already found out Alexandra in the Retreat lounge is fantastic. Once she gets to know you she can be hilarious with stories about her experiences onboard. When you see her tell her Royce and Robin are missing her.
Cant believe we never got to meet in the retreat lounge on the cruise. My wife and I spent a lot of time in the lounge. I agree, Alexandra was awesome and very funny!

Hopefully we have some readers here that are in a Sky Suite and can post some pictures. I have a bid in for the next cruise for an upgrade but not feeling confident as we are getting within 2 weeks of sailing and no word yet.
I found out 3 days before the cruise that we won the move up bid. Fingers crossed for you!

In post 152 I uploaded a quick video of the sky suite we stayed in.

Wow - I’m really behind in getting going.
We got up around 10:00 after a very restful evening. It is always tough falling to sleep on the first couple of days due to the timezone changes. The hotel gave us a late checkout of 1:00. We decided just to grab a Danish and Starbuck for Breakfast.
Around 12:30 we decided to head for Summit. We hailed an Uber which arrived in 4 minutes. The Uber ran about $26 dollars which included a toll. The trip to Port Liberty took around 20 minutes.
Checkin was a breeze and we were escorted to The Retreat. The rooms were available at 1:00. We grabbed a small lunch at Oceanview.
First observations.
Pulling into the port you could not see Summit until the last minute. Our driver exclaimed “my goodness she’s huge”. My first thought was - she is beautiful.
First up are some pictures of the Retreat Lounge (Michaels Club)
I personally love the new lighter look. As many others have pointed out there are a number of form vs function issues. An example is the rounded chairs last picture. I am a bit slender with a 32” waist and no hips. I was one of if the few that could sit in one - and it was even tight for me.
One woman man was kidding me and said her left cheek wouldn’t fit in one of those chairs.
Alexandra is the MCC Bartender and even with the hustle and bustle of day one was on point and very attentive.
Alexandra in the retreat lounge is awesome, tell her the guy with the no t-shirt on last cruise said hi! My wife and I had her cracking up with a few funny shirts we wore. Having cruise withdrawals already and only been off the Summit one day. Enjoy!!

Has anyone else who is sailing on Summit on July 7, 2019 bid on an upgrade, and have heard yay or nay regarding the bid(s) they placed? DH and I are booked in a lovely Sky Suite (sailed in this same suite twice before) but we did bid on an upgrade to a Celebrity Suite and/or a Royal Suite. Does Celebrity wait until a few days before sailing to let you know if you "won" the upgrade or not? Thanks for any insight. This is the first time we have bid on any upgrades.
Just got off Summit this morning and we won a move up bid from a regular veranda to a sky suite. They notified us 3 days before the cruise that we won. Good luck!!

Wife and I seem to lose some cash on every cruise we take when we walk into the casino! The slots and tables love taking money but rarely give any back, lol.
