1. First NCL cruise and I have a couple questions.

    1. I know it's Freestyle dining, but there are 5 of us and wondering if we should make reservations in the MDR? I assume the food is the same in both, is one better than the other?

    2. Does anyone know which night is the White Hot Party on the 4 night?

    3. Was thinking of renting cabana on GSC, but saw that they have clam shells.

Can they be reserved ahead of time or do I have to wait until in the ship?

Thanks in advance for any advice/tips.

  2. I'm looking at the 4 day cruise for October for a "girlfriend" trip. I've never cruised on Celebrity before. My most recent cruises were Holland and Princess, and RC years ago. Myself and one other friend have cruised, this will be first for the other 3. Also, we're looking at being economical and booking inside cabins. Since we currently have 5, could we get 3 in a room without climbing a ladder???? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

  3. I just came back from Niew Amsterdam on Sunday. I booked an I 7035 inside. The reservation person told me it was one of the largest insides. Looking at the deck plans and the pics, I thought OK, I can live with that. It was a standard room with no couch, just the Orange chair and table. We were very disappointed. I could have upgraded, but didn't. Did not get what we were told. Ship was full, so we couldn't move.

  4.
I always write in "Cold Wash, Please" on the form - I don't know if they do it, but it's there. We haven't had any problems, but I don't send anything that I would normally hang to dry at home. I just wash it in the sink (using their shampoo, as recommended here on CC), roll everything up in one of the bath towels and step on it, and then hang to dry on the line in the bathtub. Usually everything is dry by morning, and I can put it all away, and nobody knows what I've been up to!:)
I was on the Nieuw Amsterdam Med Romance on Sept. 9th and we purchased the laundry service for the 12 days. The cost was $108 and we had unlimited washing and pressing. The turn around time was good and we had no problem with anything except one pair of shorts had to be sent back as they weren't pressed, but that was all.

  5. In previous post, someone said that when exiting people mover HAL rep directed them to a bus. Is that still being done? I'm cruising on Sept 9 and I'm debating taking the people mover or getting a cab from our hotel, which is close to Piazalle Roma. I don't want to be walking 1/4 mile with my luggage. Does anyone know if there are buses or how far it really is? thanks

  6. Thank you for your review - I've really enjoyed it. I'm taking my first Mediterranean cruise on Sept 9th, it's the 12 day part of your cruise. It's been great to see what I have to look forward to. One question I have is when you embark in Venice, I was going to take the people mover from our hotel. Does HAL have a bus to get you to the cruise terminal? From what I've read it's a bit of a walk. Not sure if we should take a cab, there are 4 of us and well have several pieces of luggage. Thanks again for your review.

  7. I have 3 private tours planned, Naples, Rome and Monaco and I'm looking for 4 more people. If you have any interest, check out our Sept 9 roll call. Can't wait for the trip, it's my first Mediterranean cruise, and actually first cruise in several, years.

  8. I'm going on Sept 9th and called guest service to ask that question. She wasn't sure, but thought they would be the nights at sea and probably the day we are in Marseille, which is next to the last night. I also wanted to know as I want to book a dinner in the Pinnacle. When do you go?

  9. Going on my first Med cruise on Sept 9 from Venice to Barcelona was wondering what time we can get on the ship in Venice. We will be there a day early. Also, when we disembark in Barcelona, my flight doesn't leave until 2:30, is there time to do anything. We will have the day before to explore, but didn't know if I want to get to the airport early. From reading info on cc looks like if you take a tour only if your flight leaves later than 3:00 pm.

I've booked some private tours and advertised on my roll call, but haven't gotten much interest yet. Our roll call is pretty quiet. There are 4 of us traveling together and if we have to I will suck it up and pay the higher price. I much prefer the private tours vs the cruise line. Don't want to be shuttled around like cattle.

Any info is greatly appreciated only 2 months to go, can't wait. This has been on my bucket list for a while now.

  10. I too have stayed at the Hotel Olimpia (it's a Best Western property) in Venice, and was very happy with the hotel, it's location, the breakfast buffet, and the hotel staff, and the price. Hotels in Venice are quite pricy, but there's nothing like staying right IN Venice, instead of staying on the mainland and having to travel back and forth to spend time in the city of Venice.

The biggest benefit of the location of the Olimpia to me was it's proximity to the Piazzale Roma, which is the transportation hub of Venice. It's where the buses from the airport bring you, and where the People Mover to the port is located. Being close to the P. Roma is important becuse of having to get yourself AND your luggage to your hotel. To get to the Olimpia only requires you to schlep your luggage across one relatively small bridge across a canal.

Be sure to check out the board for Italy, as someone else suggested. When I was preparing to go to Venice for a cruise for the very first time, it was an invaluable resource.

I'm staying at the Olimpia in Sept and wondering if we should take a water taxi from the airport, bus or taxi. There are 4 of us traveling together. My concern is the bridge to hotel. If we each have 2 pieces of luggage how difficult would it be to maneuver. We are are in good physical condition.
